Weso Given The Green Light

Wesolowski returns to full training

James Wesolowski picked up an ACL in the JPT game at home to Oldham Athletic back in September. He was operated soon after that and since then has been hard at work with the medical staff and out on the training pitch on his rehabilitation.

That hard work and determination has paid off with him being given the green light from his consultant to return to full training.

Weso was delighted to have finally recovered from injury which has left him side-lined for the majority of the season:

“I saw the specialist the other day and he gave me the all clear. It is nice to hear and I am ready to get back in the game. All through my injury I was desperate to be playing again. I have slowly been getting closer to fitness and it will be nice to come back into a team that is on form.”

The Australian is looking forward to playing in the reserves next Tuesday at home to Bradford City on his way back to the first team:

“I was pretty much back to full training so I just need minutes now. I will start in reserve games until I can do 90 minutes and then I will be back in the squad. There is a few reserve games coming up so I want to be involved in those.”

The 28-year-old felt the players at Shrewsbury kept him in high spirits through the tough time:

“Rehabilitation has gone pretty quick. Last time it was in the summer so it was hard because I was coming in and the boys weren’t here so it dragged. This time the boys have been around and they have kept me positive and upbeat and the club have been fantastic. It’s a shame that the season has dwindled away but I need to be safe and be ready when I come back. There are around 10 games left so I am hoping I can play a couple of first team matches before the season ends. I am going to be cautious because it will be a disaster if I get injured again but I am very close to being back out there now.”

The former Leicester midfielder is adamant he will do all he can to keep injury free in the future:

“Knees are dodgy and you see very often people that do it do it multiple times. This time I have focused completely on all the details of recovering from the injury. I could have done more on certain things the first time but this time I have stayed on top of it completely.”

Wesolowski is looking forward to being able to give something back to the club after being out for so long:

“It has been a shame because even though I have been injured I have loved my time here. It is a great place to live and a great football club and I loved the time when I was playing. I need to come back and help the team out because I owe that to the team and the club.”
