Town head of physiotherapy Rachel Greenley brings you the latest from the treatment room on Thursday 21st February.
The injury situation is looking quite positive with only Andrew Cooke, Ben Davies, Colin Murdock and Darran Kempson who appeared in the treatment room the other morning.
Cookey has come on well and will hopefully be training on Thursday and should be available in some part for Saturday if things go to plan.
Ben Davies is doing well with his hamstring, we've had him on quite an accelerated programme and he has been doing some light running work for the past 5 or 6 days, and he only injured it 8 days ago. He felt it slightly on Wednesday morning when we upped the speed aspect of things. He should be back in training next week and unfortunately won't be available for Saturday but that was always going to be a bit of a push.
Colin Murdock had a slight strain at the top of his right thigh following the MK Dons game. He is doing really well strengthening that up and we are doing a lot of work on it. He's injured it a few times previously when he was at Rotherham, he had a couple of quite nasty tears in that thigh, so I think it is important that we push his rehab through all the way to the end to make sure that it is a hundred percent as it is still a little weak from those previous episodes. He's coming on well but I'm taking it a little more slowly than I normally would.
Darran Kempson popped in as he had a little bit of discomfort below the outside of the knee. It's nothing too serious as he has a slight strain in a small muscle which catches on the bone down the outside of the shin and only hurts on very specific movements. He felt it a little bit more when they went on the Astroturf and with the ground being rock hard recently hasn't helped. He had some treatment on Wednesday and again on Thursday but I would expect him to train ok and not have a problem for the weekend.
So really the picture is that all the lads should be back in training by the end of next week.
