PS Post Chester
ShrewsWeb listened to Paul Simpson's postmatch thoughts after the 0-0 draw with Chester City
That result was the opposite of what I wanted from our last home game of the season, I think the top and bottom of it is that we are not good enough.
There were some positives from the game, I thought Chris Humphrey put in a good performance and I was pleased with him, I was pleased with Marc Tierney's attitude, I thought James Constable did well when he came on and we kept a clean sheet.
I think when you look at things over recent weeks we've been held at home to Chester City, we've been held at home by Notts County, we've lost at home to Bury and lost away to Mansfield and that tells you that this squad of players isn't good enough and it needs to be changed.
I knew it was always going to be a tough job because of the run of results that we are on but that is the challenge that I wanted. You don't get jobs when everything's fine and there is a lot of work to be done. All we can do is get through the next game then over the summer try and address the problem's and change the squad around as much as we can. We need players who can cope at League 2 level and it's up to me and the rest of the staff to bring players that can come in and perform.
I was disappointed how much we didn't work their goalkeeper today, we've probably have had as many crosses in today than we have ever had in all the games since I came in. I want players to get the ball in the box and Chris Humphrey definitely provided that, we also had a few crosses in from the left but we didn't get anyone on the end of anything. The one that rolls across the goal line at the start of the second half just sums up why we are having problems because we don't have people who are prepared to get into areas where they might miss, but you never know they might score as well.
