Town travelled to the Pirelli Stadium to take on Burton Albion and in the end came away with a point to keep the unbeaten run going.
It should maybe have been all 3 points though after Burton were reduced to 10 men late in the first half. The home side really pushed Town in the second half and got a deserved equaliser but Town had the chances late on to cement their third away win on the bounce.
After the game Paul Simpson spoke to the press and was asked if he felt his side should have taken more from the game: "I'm definitely frustrated as we have let Burton off the hook today, it's as simple as that.
"We have a situation at half time whereby if we go about our business properly then the game is ours but in the second half we didn't, whether that was because of nerves but they went away from what we asked of them at half-time.
"When a team goes down to 10 men it's not a case of things will be easy, you have to work that bit harder as you find the opposition will do and I think we went a little bit too negative.
"We didn't get on the ball, we didn't pass it quickly and when we did get into decent areas we didn't finish them off.
"We are all disappointed as that is a game we should have won today and we are only going home with the one point.
"We have taken 7 points out of 3 away games which we should be delighted at but today we feel we have thrown 2 points away."
With Dean Holden suspended Simmo had a number of options for the right back slot but went with youth team player Danny Taylor.Danny put in an excellent performance for his debut and the gaffer was pleased with his contribution: "I thought he did really well and I can't have asked for more of him today.
"He passed the ball very well, he got tackles in, got in good defensive areas, looked confident and hasn't done himself any harm today and I'm delighted for him.
"Before the game I said to him that he has earnt this chance and he hasn't let us down today, he can be pleased with debut and what he contributed today."
Another bright point was Dave Hibbert's fourth goal in as many games with a lovely lopping header. It was a great finish but Town didn't capitalise on Burton going down to 10 men: "It was a fantastic goal, a real composed header and it was good to see him get another.
"We felt today if we could get a decent quality in from set pieces then we could cause them problems.
"To many times in the second half we didn't put the right balls in, we didn't put the quality in to give them more problems.
"I just feel disappointed today that we haven't gone on and win the game which would have put us up into 3rd position."
Town were backed by near to a thousand travelling supporters and for the majority of the game they were in fine voice. When Burton equalised it quietened down the travelling Town fans and Simmo was disappointed with the reaction of a few of the fans: "We can't knock the supporters as they have turned out in their numbers and the majority really got behind the team.
"Even though we have taken 7 points out of the last 3 games I still find it incredible that I am still getting abuse from some in the crowd.
"People need to take a look at where we are in the table, what we have had to put up with this season and what we are trying to achieve.
"They are fantastic in the way they turn out in their numbers and I know it is only one or two voices who are grumbling and moaning.
"We said after Macclesfield that we will stick together we just hope the fans can get behind us and help us to achieve the success we all want."
Town lost skipper Graham Coughlan after 10 minutes of the game with a hamstring problem. It is a blow but a quick reshuffle from the gaffer saw a strong performance from his side. It's a little early to say what the extent of the hamstring problem is but Simmo might have to rethink his attempts to strengthen this squad: "That is a blow but I did feel that Shane has done well to slot in after Coughs has gone off.
"We don't know how badly he has pulled his hamstring at the moment, he did it really early on game and we will have to see how it is on Monday.
"It is a position that we were looking to have to bring in after Mike Jackson's decisionto retire but we will now have to see how Coughs is and then make the decision on what to do.,
"I had targets in mind but more as cover but we may now need someone to go into the side.I have been thinking that Shane is a strong centre-half and he can play there, if we do that then we may need to put Kev McIntyre at left-back or bring someone in.
"Kev McIntyre and Terry Dunfield have done well in the midfield which has meant Paul Murray missing out, but he's come in today and did well so we have to decide between now and next Saturday what is the best way to go."
