Town's recent unbeaten run came to a halt at the Prostar after a 1-0 defeat by Accrington Stanley.
Town started brightly but gave the advantage to the visitors when a slip let in Bobby Grant for a first half goal.
Town continued to push for the leveller and in the second half really took the game to Stanley, but in the end it wasn't to be and they dropped to the first league defeat at the Prostar since October.
After the game Town manager Paul Simpson was asked for his thoughts on the game: "I was disappointed that we didn't take the opportunities when we had them in the game.
"I thought we started the game really well, by doing the things that we asked to get it up to the strikers, for them to turn their markers and get it down the channels.
"We had a great opportunity with Jake Robinson but after that point we seemed to stop doing things properly.
"We stopped turning them and putting them under pressure and by doing that we gave ourselves problems, we were playing a little bit too tippy tappy on a day when we needed to turn them round.
"We brought the pressure onto ourselves and although we had a go in the second half it is very disappointing to have lost."
The first half goal from Accrington was a little against the run of play but in the end it proved to be the turning point of the game: "We didn't deal with the ball in for the goal and we didn't really deal with it at all well.
"They had another couple of good opportunities but we were able to call upon Dave Button."
The second half saw the introduction of Steve Leslie to replace Craig Disley who was still feeling the effects of last week's game with Dagenham. Town really took the game to Stanley in the second half but the Gaffer felt his side just lacked that bit of experience that maybe could have helped them through: "It was a bit more positive and we put some better balls into the box but we didn't really have good quality in there today.
"The times we got into wide areas and we were trying to do things first time when we needed to take a touch.
"We were more positive when we put Kris Bright in there and Jon Taylor.
"What we did seem to miss today was the experience of Coughlan and Holden at the back, that's not saying the lads who played didn't do well but sometimes in these types of games its character that gets you through and unfortunately we were a little bit of a soft touch today and we need to get that character back."
It was a frustrating game for Dave Hibbert who started the game brightly but didn't manage to add to his recent tally of goals: "Early on in the first 30 minutes he won everything from Kempson but then he won a couple, got a lift and I don't think we won many balls up there after that.
"We were saying to get the ball down and get it into the wide players but we went long with balls to the strikers and away from the bits that we been doing to get us into a strong position.
"That's where we needed characters and leaders as they grab hold of the game and get us back to doing things right."
Danny Taylor got another start for Town as Dean Holden hadn't responded to treatment on his back/hamstring problem.Simmo is hoping that a few of the current injuries will clear up and bolster the squad: "Deano trained on Thursday but was struggling when he was trying to extend and felt the hamstring a little bit.
"We took him out of training, he's had an injection into his back to try and settle down the sciatic nerve and we are hopeful he will be fit for the weekend.
"We are hopeful that Graham Coughlan will be fit for next weekend as well.
"Craig Disley was having affects from the concussion in the first half; he's trained on Thursday and Friday ok.At half-time he's said he felt dizzy and that his legs weren't going with what he wanted to do and without wanting to sound unkind it's fair to say you could see that.
"It was a decision I made to play him because he's trained for two days with no problems but maybe with hindsight we should have done differently."
It was Town's first league defeat the Prostar since early October and Town need to start building another good run.Accrington have been one of the form teams of late and Simmo always knew it was going to be a tough test today: "We knew this was going to be a tough test as Accrington have only lost one league game since around early November.
"They have been on a good run and they are a decent side who have caused us a lot of problems today.
"The disappointing thing is that we had opportunities to get ourselves ahead and given ourselves a platform to build on.
"We didn't do that and have suffered for it but have to start again now with the trip away to Macclesfield."
