Town's put in a real decent performance over the 90 minutes to see off local rivals Hereford at the Prostar Stadium.

They had to remain patient though and come back from an early Hereford goal but dug deep to go in at the break 2-1 up.

The second half saw Town ride the pressure from the opposition and with the addition of a Graham Coughlan goal saw the home side finish with a deserved 3 points.

After the game manager Paul Simpson was asked for his thoughts on a good win for Town: "I thought we showed a great attitude today and were deserved winners despite going a goal down early on.

"I did think we started the game well and they scored a little bit against the run of play following a lapse in concentration.

"We keep emphasising to our back four that theyhave to be aware of where the strikers are, unfortunately we got a bit too close to Constantine and he's punished us.

"I thought we showed a determination to get back into the game and showed great quality from set pieces with people willing to get on the end and that's what gave us the victory in the end."

The goals today were spread around the side but all came from the defence with Langmead, Cansdell-Sherriff and Coughlan finding the net: "We have spoken about wanting others to chip in with goals and if they continue like that we will be delighted.

"I thought we had a couple of decent opportunities before Kelvin scored but we kept getting into the positions and the balls into the box were good and in the end we got our rewards."

The goal from Shane Cansdell-Sherriff was an excellent header but Simmo highlighted the delivery from Steve Leslie which made the goal. The team work on set pieces all the time in training so it was good to see that come off on the pitch: "The delivery from the free kick made it, it was delivered with pace and Shane gets on the end of it to score a great goal with a great run.

"It makes the work we do on set pieces in training worth it if you get the rewards like we did and get goals.

"We got three goals today and I'll take goals from set pieces until the end of the season that's what it takes.

"We have the height and we have people like Craig Disley, Lewis Neal and Steve Leslie who can put the deliveries in.

"There have been sides who gave been promoted from this division by having quality from set pieces so it does help."

The second half saw Hereford come back into the game and Town go a little flat at times. The addition of Jake Robinson seemed to give the side a spark and Simmo praised Jake's contribution after the game: "I think he gave us a little bit of a spark as we weren't getting in behind them and weren't stretching them.

"I just wanted that extra bit of zip that Jake gives us and he definitely made a difference and we once again got a foot hold in the game.

"In the second half we were a little bit better than we were on Tuesday but we still weren't positive enough with our passing and didn't get them turned enough.

"When Jake comes on and runs at people like that and is prepared to run in behind then he is a handful for anyone and is showing why I wanted him to come to the club."

It was a good win for Town but meant more as it was a win over one of the local rivals. The Prostar had one of the best atmosphere's it's seen in a while with the 5000 plus Town fans responding to the performance on the pitch: "It's a local derby and we've gone about thing s the right way and have sent Hereford home with nothing today.

"We've let ourselves down at times in these games and it was important that we put the game earlier in the season to bed and gave our fans something to shout about.

"They made a hell of a lot of noise today and hopefully they will continue to keep doing that and coming back for more.

"We will take a lot with us to Bury on Friday and everyone had good memories of our last visit there last season and hopefully we can come away with more good memories."

Town's recent form has been good with 3 wins out of 3 games and Simmo is challenging his side to remain professional and keep the performances going into the Bury game: "We can't ask anymore to the players to have gotten 9 points out of three games.

"I've now said to them that we have a really important 8 days starting on Friday.

"These results make training much easier but you are always preparing for the next game until the last one of the season decides where you are.

"We've got a big game at Bury and we have to make sure we are professional, don't think that we made it as we are a long way from achieving anything."
