Town fell to their third defeat on the trot after a lacklustre performance away to Aldershot.

In a game hampered early on by the weather it was the home side who adapted the better and with a goal in each half took the 3 points.

After the game Town manager Paul Simpson spoke to the waiting press and was asked for his thoughts on the game: "We didn't have any spark about us today and gave ourselves problems with our forward balls, in the first half in particular.

"In the second half we passed the ball a little better but let ourselves down by our forward balls not being positive enough.

"We made poor decisions on when to put balls into the box and on days like today you have got to put balls into the box and get teams turned and we didn't do that.

"That's now three defeats on the trot now and we have to address that and find a spark.

"We have a group of players who through January and February played with confidence and freedom but who have now tightened up and gone a bit nervy. We have now got to find a way to get rid of that nervousness and get the spark back into them ready for our home game next week."

Aldershot's goals were two bad ones to concede by Town's standards, the first a strike through a crowed box and the second a turn and shot from the edge of the box: "They weren't great goals and I might be clutching at straws but I thought there was a foul in the box for their first goal.

"The second goal he's got the ball into his feet far too easily, he's turned far too easily, no ones put in a challenge and it wasn't a good goal.

"They are a good side with a good record at home but I don't think we've done enough today to really push them."

Another concern for the Town boss was the fact that his side failed to score for another game.Simmo does believe his side is still capable of creating and scoring but they need to regain their belief: "It goes without saying that is a concern and something that we need to address.

"We have got players there who are capable of scoring goals but they aren't doing that at the moment.

"We have a side who are capable of creating chances but again we aren't doing that at he moment.

"We have to keep at them and keep working with them and install some belief and some confidence back into them."

There were a number of changes to the side and with Dave Hibbert still missing through injury it gave Kris Bright the chance to start the game: "I felt he worked hard in there and did ok but didn't really get much service.

"I felt it was the right thing to go with Steve Leslie as he's done very well away from home playing in that role.

"It was a case of going with a big man upfront but that didn't happen so we changed it and went with Jamie up there.

"He did get a couple of half chanced but didn't really have any real opportunities to go and get himself a goal."

The defeat keeps Town outside the play-offs places and the Town manager isn't looking at other results. His side need to get back to winning ways and push back towards the top of the table: "The result elsewhere don't matter, if we don't do our job properly the it'd irrelevant what happens elsewhere.

"We need to get out finger out and do something about it, we need to get some performances and results and if we do that then we can have a look at what everyone else has done.

"There are enough games to do something about it and if we get our own house in order then everything else will take care of itself."
