Town's unbeaten opening start to the season continued with an impressive 4-0 win over Stockport County at Edgeley Park.
Town pretty much dominated proceedings from the kick-off until the final whistle. The first half saw just the one goal from Jake Robinson but in the second half Town added goals from Matt Harrold and a brace from Mark Wright.
After the game Graham Turner spoke to the press and was asked for his thoughts on the game:"It was a very good performance, there were passages of play where we have done well and played it around nicely, the third goal was a good example of that.
"The defending of the team as a whole, the attitude to defending was spot on and after the way we conceded goals at Stoke that is pleasing. We worked hard as a team to defend and going forward we played some good stuff at times."
Town grabbed the four goals but in all honesty it could have been a few more goals for the visitors:"I think we are beginning to take some shape as a team and we are only a few games into the season.
"It is looking quite good and there is a far amount of competence in the play out there on the field.
"It is looking encouraging for the future but it is still early on so we don't get too carried away with things."
The front pairing of Jake Robinson and Matt Harrold continues to blossom and both players got on the score sheet today:"Jake missed the last game and a half but he looked back to sharpness today.
"They play well off each other but there are other contributing factors such as the wide players are giving them good service going into the box.
"We do mange to get the opposition side stretched so that there is that room for our front two to try and exploit."
Mark Wright looks to have settled quickly into his role with Town and his performances improve with each game he plays. Today saw another good performance but today he topped it off with two goals:"He gets himself into good goalscoring positions and takes up intelligent positions .
"He's shown he can finish them off and he has got a good goalscoring record when things are going well for him,
"He's been involved in promotions at Walsall and at MK Dons so he knows what he takes."
Town are now back in action this Tuesday night in the Johnstone Paint Trophy at Oldham. It is a distraction from the league but is a competition the Town manager wants to do well:"I think there might be one of two changes for that game but not many, we might just freshen things up a little.
"We'll look at it on Monday as there are a few little knocks, Chris Neal had a couple of stitches in his eye but we will have a look at things.
"I think it is an important trophy once you get later stages and to get there you have to win the early rounds.
"I would like to there at the end and to achieve that we will need to put out a decent side."
