Paul Simpson once again keeps with the same side but when you are in such a good vein of form then it's hard to make changes.
The game kicked off in good old blustery Morecambe conditions with both sides looking to get their early sight on goal. It was Town who did get the first good effort on goal, the ball dropped to Dave Hibbert who had found space in the centre of the field, he took a touch and then drove in a good long range effort which flew just wide of the target.
Town grabbed the early advantage after Dave Hibbert was fouled by Andy Parrish about 25 yards from goal to give away a free-kick.Joss Labadie placed the ball with Jake Simpson and Kev McIntyre over the ball, Simpson walked away and McIntyre rolled the ball to allow Labadie to strike in a great effort which flew past Roache in the Morecambe goal to make it 1-0 to Town.
Town were buoyed by the early goal and looked positive when they turned the home side and got on the attack.Jake Simpson showed good perseverance to snuff out a Morecambe attack and then come away with the ball, he continued his run forward with Robinson and Hibbert giving him options to the left and right, Simpson rode one tackle and continued his run forward, he pushed the ball into Robinson who took a touch before driving his shot over the bar.
Morecambe were keeping the ball down well and looking to play through Town and this was causing the visitors a number of problems. The home side were pressing well and combing well, they should really have drawn level on 20 minutes when a good move saw Mullin lay the ball into the run of Phil Jevons, he found space in the box but put his shot the wrong side of the post.
Morecambe were back on level terms with 23 minutes on the clock, another bright break saw Jevons find space in between the Town defence, he then laid the ball of into the run of Stewart Drummond who skipped into the box before stroking the ball past the outrushing Phillips to make it 1-1.
Morecambe's aerial power was coming more into the game as the half went on. They were causing a lot of problems from corners and set pieces but also when they got some decent deliveries into the box. Laurence Wilson broke out of defence and continued his run down Town's right, he kept going and going before whipping over a great cross that found Paul Mullin rising above the Town defence but he put his header over the target.
Town had been little of a threat to the Morecambe goal during the mid part of the half but when they broke they always looked dangerous. Jake Robinson had drifted out onto the right to get the ball and break forward, he then delivered a ball to he back post that found McIntyre in space, he hit a first time volley but it flew just wide of the target and into the side netting.
Half-time: 1-1
After the restart both sides were looking to get on the score sheet with Town having a couple of decent half chances but Morecambe had the best when Ian Craney broke through the Town defence, but luckily for Town he hit his shot wide of the target.
Town were showing some good approach work to get into behind the home side, Robinson was coming out to the wing to allow an outlet and this was getting Town into some good positions.Robinson did well to chase down the ball and win a throw in off Bentley, Cansdell-Sherriff took the throw to Robinson who did well to hold off his marker before turning and delivering the ball to the near post, Hibbert had come across his defender well and got a foot in but the ball went wide of the target.
Phillips had been in good form in the Town goal to deal with the conditions and with what Morecambe could throw at him.He had to be at his best though after some sustained pressure saw Drummond push the ball out wide, the ball back in found Craney in space, he took a touch to take the ball round his marker and then curled a great shot in but Phillips was equal to it and sprang across his fine before tipping the ball around the post.
Morecambe were reduced to 10 men with over 25 minutes of the half remaining, Kev McIntyre played a lovely ball for Jake Robinson to run onto and he looked to be through on goal until Danny Adams came across and sent Robinson flying, the ref blew up and after speaking to his linesman produced a straight red card for the Morecambe defender.
It was 10 men apiece minutes later though when Joss Labadie put a foot in to try and nick the ball off Craig Stanley, Labadie seemed to catch the Morecambe player but the ref saw enough to book Labadie and with him picking a yellow in the first half ref Sarginson then produced the red card.
Town had a great chance to retake the lead after Hibbert had done well to chase the ball down and win a foul off Andy Parrish.McIntyre and Cansdell-Sherriff were over the ball, Cansdell-Sherriff sent a hanging ball into the back post to find Langmead, he headed the ball back to set-up up Hibbert but he got under the ball and lifted his shot over the bar from 10 yards out.
As the game went on there seemed to be more space for both side.Town had another decent chance after the ball found Lewis Neal in the centre of the park, he looked for options and saw Holden breaking down the right, Neal lifted a great ball to find Holden who pushed into the box, he turned and twisted to try and get past Twiss and managed to drive in a lot ball to the near post, Bright stabbed a foot in but Roche managed to get enough in the way to get the ball clear.
Full-time: 1-1
