Town were straight at the visitors from the off and created a string of good openings, the first a snap shot from Disley after Hibbert had chested down in the box, then good link up play between Hibbert and Leslie saw a good chance and finally Steve Leslie showed good awareness to nick in while Lockwood was waiting for the ball to drop and then drove in a shot to the near post that Cole did well to palm around the post.Town had to be aware for Barnet though as they were looking dangerous on the break and when O'Flynn burst into the box Dunfield had to time his block with precision to stop a good scoring opportunity.

Town's pressure paid off with a really well worked goal that showed great skill and patience. The ball was played around the Barnet box with several Town players looking for a good sight of goal, each time Barnet got bodies behind the ball but Town remained patient and worked the ball around the box, it finally came out to Lewis Neal who lifted an inviting ball back into the box and Craig Disley rose well to flick a header past Cole and make it 1-0 to Town.

Graham Coughlan was the first player in to the book and it was a little bit of harsh decision from the ref.Coughlan and Micah Hyde challenged for the ball and caught each other, both players went to ground with Coughlan needing treatment, when he got back to his feet ref Salisbury produced the yellow card.

Town were soaking up a little pressure from Barnet but were looking quite comfortable when the opposition had the ball. The home side though were looking to break when they could and with Neal and Leslie there were willing options down the flanks. The two of these players combined really well when Town broke quickly, Neal was out on the left and remained patient while he found an option, Leslie was in space on the right and Neal played a great cross field ball, Leslie flicked the ball in his stride and burst past the last defender before driving in a vicious that Cole managed to get a palm to but the power took it up onto the underside of the bar and then into the back of the net.

Half-time: 2-0

It was more of a cagey affair after the restart with Barnet pushing Town back and trying to get back in to the game.Town were containing the visitors well though when the ball found substitute Paul Furlong free in the box he really have done better with his snap shot which went straight into Button.

Town were really being made to work by the visitors but they were remaining patient and letting remain in possession when there was no danger. Every player was working to close down when Barnet had the ball and this was for a very stop/start game at times.

Town's performance was a little disjointed at times but they still looked comfortable and in control. When they had to defend they did the work but they were also looking to break when they could and Robinson and Disley were causing the Barnet defence a lot of problems when they did break forward.

With just a few minutes on the clock Town produced a great bit of attacking football, Jake Robinson received the ball just inside the Town half, he pushed forward and played it into Kris Bright, he in turned played a great flick back into the path of Robinson who powered in on goal, he drove in a shot from just inside the box but it flew over the target.

Full-time: 2-0
