Graham Turner is forced to make the one change with Sean McAllister coming in to replace Kevin McIntyre who is suspended for three games after picking up a red card in the win over Bradford City. Other than that it's the same side that took on Bradford City as Town look to progress into the second round of the Carling Cup for the first time in several seasons.

Both sides were going about things in the right way from the first whistle and it was a bright opening to the game. The ball was being zipped around the Greenhous Meadow pitch as the sides looked to grab the early advantage.Charlton had couple of good sights of goal for Abbot while Town tested the Charlton keeper through Ainsworth and couple of dangerous corners.

Jake Robinson was looking to build on his opening days good work and he looked to be full of confidence.A ball played into Harrold was cut out by a Charlton head but only as far as Robinson, he took the ball forward before firing in a long range effort that flew just wide of the target.

It was the visitors who took the lead on 25 minutes when a big ball down field dropped in behind the Town defence, O'Donnell hesitated and this allowed Pawel Abbot to nick in to take the ball before dinking it below the out rushing Ben Smith to make it 1-0 to Charlton.

Two minutes later things were looking worse for Town after Charlton grabbed a well worked second goal.the London side broke down the right with Lee Martin on the ball, he cut inside the Town box before drive a low ball across goal that Pawel Abbot nicked in to push the ball past Smith and give Charlton a 2-0 lead.

With the game just passing the half hour mark Charlton worked a third goal to give Town an uphill task to get back onto the game. The ball found Lee Martin some 30 yards from goal and there seemed to be little danger, Martin dropped his shoulder to make space before driving in a low shot that beat the dive of Smith and went in low at the post to make it 3-0 to Charlton.

Town grabbed goal back with 10 minutes of the half remaining it again came from good link from the front two.For once a ball was played direct into Matt Harrold and he got a great flick on to put Robinson inon goal, he kept his nerve and nicked the ball past Worner to make it 3-1.

Charlton caught Town with another ball over the top of the defence and this time it was Lee Martin who got in behind Sharps and O'Donnell, he took a touch to get the ball under control and this gave Ben Smith the chance to get down at his feet to stop the shooting chance, Martin took the ball wide and then drove in his shot but Sharps had come over to cover the post and got in an important block.

Town then went up the other end and really made it a game by pulling the score back to 3-2.a quick break saw Charlton on the back foot with Robinson causing problems, the ball came back to Mark Wright who the drove an inviting ball low towards goal that saw Matt Harrold come across the near post before flicking the ball past Worner to make it 3-2 and game on.

Half-time: 3-2

It took a little while for the first good chance of the half but it was a lovely one when it did come.A long ball downfield saw Harrold jump well to be first to the ball and give Robinson a ball to run onto, he controlled it then brought in onto his right so he could curl insuperb looking shot that dropped just wide of the far post.

Town were showing great determination and patience as they took the game to Charlton. They were playing the ball around well and keeping to the ball down looking for the openings that could hurt the opposition.

That patience paid off with 30 minutes of the game still remaining when Town won a couple of corners on the bounce.Mark Wright lifted a great ball into the box and there was Daniel O'Donnell rising highest to power a unstoppable header into the top of the net to make it 3-3.

Charlton were still a danger and if Town let their concentration drop for a moment they could easily be punish. This was shown when the visitors managed to get another ball in behind the Town defence that saw Abbot sliding in to connect, but luckily he didn't connect cleanly and put his shot well wide of the target.

With 15 minutes remaining Town grabbed the lead with a superb counter attacking move after a Charlton free-kick broke down, Ainsworth came out with the ball as Town counter attacked down the pitch, he had Robinson down the left and Wright down the right and chose to use Wright, he powered forward and into the Charlton box but looked to have lost the ball but McAllister got in to regain possession, he set it up for Wright who then put up a great looping ball that Harrold rose well to connect and power in a header back across the goal that dropped in at the back post and gave Town the lead for the first time in the game.

Both teams were still pushing and it was a great ending to a great game but Town had the best chance to score just as the game entered injury time.Another great counter attack saw Wright burst down the centre of the field after a Charlton attack broke down, as always there were options and he chose to push the ball in behind the visitors defence into the run of Van Den Broek, he was in on goal and attempted to hit a shot under Worner but the Charlton keeper blocked well, the ball rolled free and Van Den Broek swung a foot to send the ball goal wards but it hit the post.

Full-time: 4-3
