Town manager Gary Peters was also back from his holidays and ShrewsWeb caught up with him early this morning: "It's back to the hard work of pre-season training but the lads have already been at it for the last couple of weeks now.

"We've had a relatively short break following the Wembley play-off final so have only had about 5 weeks away from it.

"The lads have been doing their maintenance programme and some might have been doing too much as Michael Symes has already picked up a bit of an injury damaging his hamstring.

"We've

also got Ben Davies and Luke Jones out for the start of the season so could have done without Michael picking up an injury."

Ben Davies has been out of action since the game at MK Dons late last season while Luke Jones suffered the heartache of his knee locking on the pitch before the Wembley game. Both players had operations over the summer and will miss the start of the season: "It will Christmas before we consider getting Ben back into training following his Achilles injury at the end of last season.

"With Luke it will be 7 weeks from the time he had the cartilage operation before be can start training or running.

"The means Ben and Luke are out for the start of the season and it looks like Michael Symes will also miss the start of the season."
