News broke late last night that striker James Constable would be joining the club from Kidderminster Harriers on a 2 ½ year deal.
Constable has had a great season in the Conference and has been in good form in front of goal for Harriers. His form has seen a lot of scouts going down to Aggborough but in the end it was Shrewsbury Town that he chose to come to.
The 23 year old has been linked with a move to Town for a while and in the end the deal was sorted out just before midnight: "There has been talk of a move and a lot of chit chat about a possible move but at 6 o'clock yesterday it was off but then back on.
"I'm absolutely delighted that it's all finalised and I'm now here really looking forward for my time here.
"I've seen the gaffer at a couple of games but tried to put that out of my mind and concentrate on my game and luckily enough the move has happened.
"I think there were a couple of other clubs interested but soon as I came here, looked around the place and spoke to Gary and the coaching staff I knew it was right."
James started out with Chippenham before a move to join up with Walsall. His career at the Saddlers didn't' get off to the best of starts with manager Paul Merson leaving the club shortly afterwards. Two managers quickly came and went and in the end James had to look at a loan to Kidderminster to get games: "It was difficult with Paul Merson signing me at Walsall but then leaving a couple of months later. Another manager came in and then a couple of months later Richard Money took over after that so in the space of 6 months I'd had three managers.
"It wasn't ideal and I wasn't getting as many games and as much experience as I would have liked to so the right thing for me to do was move out on loan.
"I moved to Kidderminster and did well there and in the end the deal was made a permanent one.
"At the time I needed first team football having not played much first team football. It was vital that I got in at Kidderminster and started scoring goals and I did that which boosted my confidence.
"The idea was to hopefully get some games and goals in and then get some experience to hopefully get back into the league and luckily enough that has worked out."
The next step in James' career is the move up to join Gary Peters Shrewsbury Town. After looking around the stadium and speaking to the staff at the club it wasn't a tough move to make: "It wasn't a hard move to make at all, coming up and seeing the stadium last night and looking around the place it was easy after that.
"The second you pull up and seeing the stadium you know this is a club which is going forward and striving for success.
"It is very similar to what I am, I'm looking to come here and do well and to hopefully win things."
James joined up with training for the first time this morning and was looking forward to meeting his new team mates. He's looking forward to getting the chance to get back into the league and push for a starting place with his new club: "I know off the lads and heard about them but not had chance to speak to them as yet.
"I'm now looking forward to meeting them and hopefully getting some good partnerships going and getting some success.
"Checking the league table there is no way the season is over and we have a great chance of making the play-offs.
"I'm not coming here to make up the numbers and I'm going to kick on and hopefully get into the starting eleven and do well."
