Kelvin Langmead's return from injury looks to have taken a step back after he finished training on Friday with a sore knee.
He hasn't trained again this week and it looks like he might not feature again this season.
Speaking to ShrewsWeb this morning Town manager Paul Simpson revealed that although Kelvin hasn't got a bad injury he won't be risking him again in the final two games: "Kelvin has worked really hard with the medical staff to get himself to a level where he felt he could come in to train.
"He trained with us last Friday but he came off at the end with a lot of soreness and was concerned with the area around the bottom of the knee.
"Myself, Rachel and Joe had a chat and we decided that because of the situation we are now in we can't take any chances with Kelvin and there is no point in risking him and losing him for the start of pre-season.
"I'm going to leave Kelvin out, it's not the case that he's got such a bad injury that he won't be available again this season it's the case that we want to get to the bottom of it and we don't want to take any risks with him.
"He is the type of player who wants to play on even though it's hurting but my main thing is that I want Kelvin Langmead to be fit for the start of pre-season to be available for the start of next season.
"This season we have two games left that I want to win both of and do it properly but I won't risk any players to achieve that and certainly won't risk Kelvin."
Town captain Ben Davies limped out of the warm up at Mansfield on Saturday with a sore back. His back had spasmed during the warm up and although he wanted to carry on Paul Simpson immediately changed his side.
Ben has been receiving treatment this week and although he is still in some discomfort the Town manager is hoping his captain will be back in training at the end of the week: "Ben had had a back stiffness for a couple of days leading up to the Mansfield game. He'd completed all of the training and there was never any debate about whether he was fit or not.
"Ben did the warm-up as normal but at about 10 to 3 his back went into a spasm, he was struggling but he said he could get through and it didn't worry him but he couldn't sprint or really extend himself as he felt it going down his hamstring. For me there was no question about it and I had to change it there and then.
"He's still very stiff and sore at the moment but we've had him see a chiropractor to try and loosen the muscles off and hopefully come Thursday or Friday he will be available to train."
