Season Review - February
Martin Wild continues his look back at Town's eventful 2007/08 season.

Lincoln City were the next to inflict more misery in SY2, returning home with a 2-1 win to gain some revenge for the 4-0 thrashing on the first day of the season. Davies got Town level but they fell to a sucker punch with less than five minutes remaining. The boos that rained down at the end were by now becoming commonplace.
Constable opened his account by gaining a point in the 1-1 draw at Brentford and then we welcomed champions-elect MK Dons to the New Stadium for a Tuesday night game. Three goals in a ten-minute spell before half time looked to have put Paul Ince's men out of sight but Kelvin Langmead scored his first goal of the season right on half-time to offer a glimmer of hope. Shrewsbury produced an amazing turnaround when a last minute goal from Constable - his second of the evening - made it three each and nearly brought the roof off the place! Could this be a turning point?
The most bizarre experience of the season followed. when the referee called the game off at Morecambe 45 minutes ahead of kick-off, as the pitch was frosty in one corner of the ground. All sorts of theories started doing the rounds suggesting Town didn't want to play because of a growing injury list, but the referee had made his decision and we all came home.
Hereford brought almost 1700 fans across the A49 with them and completed a league double over us, when again we led but ended up on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline. Post-match, Peters was scathing of Hereford's use of the loan market and wondered whether we'd played a league two side or one from the Championship, in a reference to the number of players brought in from other clubs. It was a strange outburst but things were to get very much worse for Mr.Peters!
