Kevin McIntyre moved to join Town in January of last year and came into bolster the midfield after the departure of Stewart Drummond to Morecambe. He came into a side that was struggling but by the end of the season had shown the Town fans what he was about with some decent performances in the Town midfield.

This season has seen Macca start in every game so far and has put in a good shift alongside Paul Murray and more recently Darren Moss.

ShrewsWeb grabbed a quick word with Macca before training to get his thoughts on the season so far: "It's been so far so good in the league game and then on Tuesday we've got through to the next round of the Johnstone Paint's Trophy."

Macca has seen some changes at Town since he joined with a change of manager and then over the summer a number of new faces. The additions have bolstered the squad but Macca also believes that they have improved it: "There are new faces in there, everyone is fitter and is fighting for their places and that what a team needs.

"If you're not doing the job on the pitch then you know that you are looking over your shoulder as there are people who are ready to come in and do a job for the team.

"The manger has brought in some of his own players and added some really good lads to the squad.

"Everything is going well, the training is good and everyone is enjoying it and I think that is shown on the pitch."

Since coming to Town Macca has played in the centre of midfield and on the left of midfield. It's a position that he's played in for the majority of his career and one that he much prefers: "I like to play in the midfield and it's a position I've always preferred over my career.

"The way we play with a three in the middle and with Ben Davies floating gives him a chance to get into the box to support the front two.

"I'm really enjoying it at the moment to be honest and hope I can continue to contribute to the side."

The season started with a midfield pairing of McIntyre and Paul Murray but an early hamstring injury saw Darren Moss come in to replace Murray. The Town squad is a large one but as has been shown when injuries do arise it's up to the players to take their chances: "Muzza got injured and that gave Mossy the opportunity to come in and he's taken that really well.

"We've shown so far the strength in the squad and whenever anyone's come in they've done really well."

So far this season Town have found the net 10 times in all competitions but the goals have been spread around. Macca nicked in to get the equaliser in the Johnstone Paint Trophy win on Tuesday and he should really have opened his account in the league game with Exeter a few weeks prior to that: "It was good to get the goal on Tuesday night but I really should have scored in the League fixture but I was made up to score at last.

"Everyone is chipping in with goals all over the side and I think that what its needs.

"You can't just depend on your strikers to be scoring goals over the season as they are under enough pressure, so when your other players score that always helps."

The weekend sees Town make the trip up to the North West coast to take on Morecambe. So far the away trips have seen a resilient Town side and Macca is looking towards another gritty performance and to 3 points: "Last year it got called off on the Saturday and we ended up playing it on a Tuesday night and getting a draw.

"We've got to go up there and stick to our plan, everyone knows their own jobs but need to make sure they perform.

"If we do that then I'm sure we've got enough quality to come away with the 3 points.

"We've shown a resilience and character so far, to go 2-1 down at Notts County and then equalise in the 88th minute shows what the team is about this season."
