The boys at Grange Infants and Nursery School were not doing as well as the girls in their studies and staff looked for help to get them back on track. The head teacher of the school contacted Shrewsbury Town to see if they could offer any help to the boys.

Shrewsbury Town FC sent some players to help motivate them and improve on their reading skills. First team players Kelvin Langmead and Chris Humphrey visited the school last week to help the boys with their studies. They were pleased to see that Ben Davies was already there, but this wasn't the Shrewsbury Town captain but 6 year old Ben who is one of the pupils.

Kelvin and Chris spent the afternoon helping the boys with their reading as well as answering questions on their day jobs with Shrewsbury Town.

ShrewsWeb spoke to Kelvin afterwards and he was happy to have been able to help: "It was a real laugh to go to the school and help the kids with their reading.

"Chris and myself spent the afternoon there and it was really good to meet the kids and see the reaction from them.

"If by us spending a few hours can help the lads along with their reading then it will be time well spent."
