The January transfer window has opened and Town manager Paul Simpson was quick to get down to business. He brought in midfielder Joss Labadie from West Brom while allowing the deals for Scott Bevan and Marc Tierney to become permanent ones.
The Town manager is hoping that he will be able to bring in some new faces to freshen up his squad but is also hoping to move some of the existing players on.
Simmo now has a fully fit squad but this brings the problem of having 22 outfield players to choose from at present: "I'm hoping that we will be able to do some deals during the transfer window and I said last week that I'm expecting some movement.
"Two deals have already gone through with to be permanent with Scott Bevan and Marc Tierney both leaving.
"That has created a little bit of space but we are in a position where we have a lot of players at the football club.
"There will be trialists coming in and out over the month for us to look at and today (Friday) we have 22 outfield players training and that is too many.
"I want to move some people out and if we can do that there will be the opportunity for me to bring in some of the ones that I want."
One player that Simmo confirmed the club had made an enquiry about was Peterborough United's Liam Hatch.Posh's website ran a story linking Town with a bid for Hatch but Simmo revealed that after an initial enquiry Town had decided not to pursue Hatch: "Liam Hatch is one of a number of players who we have made enquiries about to see their availability.
"When Peterborough quoted the fee they wanted we decided that we wouldn't that the enquiry any further."
