ShrewsWeb spoke to Grant Holt this morning before training and in between doughnuts.
Last night saw Grant and Paul Murray taking part in the OSC's player Q&A night at the Prostar. Around 70 fans spent two hours listening to the pair answer questions on a whole host of subjects.
It was a good night all round and one that Grant and Muzza really enjoyed: "I hope everyone who came last night really enjoyed and got the responses they wanted from me and Muzza.
"You've got to take the time to listen to the fans and to their worries and know how they are seeing things.
"We know what we've got to do and hopefully we will be able to put things right for them."
There was a lot of humour during the evening with great tales of scrabble nights and trips to the countryside with Bert the Butcher of Condover: "Sometimes Q&A's can be a bit boring so you have to be as open as you can, me and Muzza said to ask whatever the fans wanted to know and we tried to answer as best we could.
"It's an open forum and I feel you have to be as open and honest as you possibly to make it a good night."
The evening was a welcome break from a tough weeks training for the lads after the defeat at Bournemouth. It's been a useful week out on the training ground and one that Holty thinks will put the lads in good stead for the task ahead: "After a bad defeat we've worked on a number of things this week to try and get things right.
"We've worked on tightening things up that we'd gone a little sloppy on and hopefully that will stick in the lads' minds for the next few weeks."
It's been a good week in the dressing room as well with the lads in good spirits despite the hard work. The practical jokes and banter have been flying around to help build an even more positive atmosphere: "It has been a bit like preseason because when you do extra its long days and you are together a lot.
"You sit in the dressing room and have a laugh and a joke and playing practical jokes on each other and that builds up the spirit.
"It's hard work doing a lot more hours but it does become a big positive and I think this week is helping and the manager has done it at the right time."
The team now goes into two tough home games which could see Town re-cement their playoff place. The aim is still to hit the top three and it is something that Holty believes the side can achieve: "It's a big game and we did well against Chesterfield at their place even though we let two goals slide.
"These next two games are a good opportunity for ourselves to cement a place higher up the league.
"We want to get into that top 3 now to make it so that we don't have to rely on the play-offs."
Town currently lie just outside the playoff places but there is still everything to play for with a possible 48 points at stake. The lads need to get a bit of consistency going with the results to achieve their top 3 aim: "We keep talking and saying that we will do it this week but we aren't getting that consistent run of results.
"We will go to 6th place in the league and then to drop to 8th, we'll then win and go to 5th but then drop to 9th but what we want to do is get a run together.
"We need to do that and be the team who are challenging for 3rd place and then 2nd place.
"We are good enough to do that and we need to start putting that talk into practice."
The midweek results saw Wycombe lose out on their top of the table spot with Brentford winning. It shows that there will be changes at the top of the table and Holty wants Town to push on: "There are a lot of people who still have to play each other, and when that happens each will have points taken off each other.
"We are in the position where we have a lot of games to go away from home against the top teams and a lot of games at home against the bottom teams.
"People know that our record against the top half of the table is very good but against the bottom half it is poor.
