Town have bolstered their squad with the signing of pacy forward Moses Ashikodi until the end of the season.
Moses has been training with Town over the past couple of weeks and played in the reserves 5-0 win over Sheffield United on Wednesday. He scored a couple of goals but his overall play impressed Simmo who was pleased to have tied up the deal: "We've taken Moses Ashikodi on a contract until the end of the season.
"He's a player who we have had in to train a couple of weeks ago and the plan was then to have a look at him in the reserves but that game was postponed.
"He came in this week and played in the reserves on Wednesday and he did well and scored two goals. The goals weren't that important it was more about the way he went about things, the positions he got into.
"Looking at him I thought he was just that bit different to the strikers that we already have here, he's someone who has a bit of pace about them and looks to get in behind.
"He's a good size and I've decided that it was a bit of a no brainer to get him in, he's not costing us a lot and he is a player who is desperate to get back into professional football after leaving Watfo4d in January."
Moses is only 21 years of age but has been with a number of decent clubs so far in his career. He's had a couple of injuries which have restricted his games but Simmo is hoping that he will grab the chance with Town and shine: "He's been a little bit unfortunate if you look back over his career.
"He got into a scrape at Millwall where he got suspended and then they terminated his contract when he was still young.
"He's been on loan at clubs and unfortunately broke his leg when he was on loan and has had a couple of periods where that caused him further problems in subsequent loans.
"The top and bottom of it is for Moses is that he is at a point in his career where he needs to knuckle down and make sure his attitude is right and to show anyone watching he has that ability.
"His profile says he is a pacy, skilful forward and we are going to give him a platform to show that and if he does that he will benefit and Shrewsbury Town will benefit."
Moses Ashikodi will have the squad number 29.
