Weekend Preview
Shrewsbury travel to Adams Park on Saturday where they'll be hoping to recapture the kind of form that saw them destroy Wycombe 7-0 back in October, the scene of their last away victory this season.
Peter Taylor's side had looked unstoppable earlier in the season and topped the table for most of the winter months, however a poor run of form since Christmas has seen them fall out of the automatic promotion spots at just the wrong time.
The Chairboys are currently on a run of one win in their last seven games and were beaten 1-0 at home by Rochdale last week, thanks to a 90th minute winner to leave them in fourth place.
Town are lurking only three positions and four points behind them in the table and a win would definitely boost their chances of promotion especially at this point in the season.
The last time the two sides met was just before Christmas, which the away side took three points from thanks to a solitary goal from top-scorer Matt Harrold, although October's Johnstone Paint Trophy game will linger long in the memory of any Shrews fan thanks that 7-0 demolition, with Grant Holt bagging five.
Wycombe have been boosted in recent weeks with two loan signings from Premier League clubs; goalkeeper Marek Stech signed from West Ham, and midfielder Lee Sawyer moved from Chelsea, as they aim to get their promotion hopes back on track.
It is a massive day in League Two as six of the top seven sides all face each other on the same afternoon. Leaders Brentford entertain third-placed Gillingham, and second placed Rochdale play Exeter who are currently in sixth.
The only side not facing direct opposition also have a tricky tie as Bury welcome resurgent Bournemouth to Gigg Lane, and Bradford will be hoping to capitalise and force themselves back into the promotion places when they travel to Chester.
With all these big games on the same day, the League Two promotion picture will become a lot clearer come 5pm on Saturday.
