Town will be aiming for a late surge back into the play-off places beginning on Saturday when they face Rotherham, with only three games remaining this season.
After a run of only one win in their last 11 games Shrewsbury have faded just at the wrong time, but boss Paul Simpson will be looking for his side to pull themselves together and win their remaining fixtures and earn a chance of promotion at Wembley.
However they'll have to overcome their Achilles heel this season if they're going to do it, their poor away form. With only win on the road so far, and two of their three remaining games away from the Prostar, things will have to change if the Shrews fancy League One football next season.
The first away fixture is a trip to the Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield where Rotherham find themselves playing after an eventful 12 months. The club were forced to leave their traditional home Millmoor and sell their training ground after the money dried up, and were forced to find alternative venues for this season after falling into administration.
The Millers were also docked 17 points at the start of the season, but with a good squad of players and a talented young manager in Mark Robins the club were never in any threat of relegation all season, and currently find themselves in 14th place, but would have been second without their handicap.
Robins also has a striker who can rival Grant Holt's tally for the season with Kyle Reid having got on the scoresheet 18 times this season, only one behind the League Two Player of the Year. Indeed it was Holt's penalty which separated the sides when they played in December in Town's 1-0 win.
Rotherham have only lost once in their last seven games, but last time out they were held to a goalless draw against Port Vale, but are unbeaten in their last four home games.
Despite this Town will need to win in Yorkshire on Saturday otherwise their play-off hopes could be in tatters in a crucial weekend in League Two.
Shrewsbury's main rivals for promotion Chesterfield and Gillingham play each other at Saltergate, so with at least one side is guaranteed to drop points Town have a chance of gaining ground on both sides, if they can overturn the form book against Rotherham.
