Town manager Paul Simpson was back at his desk on Tuesday to start the preparation for the play-off final against Gillingham.
We started by asking him if the win against Bury on the Sunday had sunk in yet: "It was a great win and wonderful day with some great scenes at the end.
"There were some great performances by the players but as a group they put in a brilliant battling performance which sets us up nicely for a wonderful day out at Wembley and hopefully another great occasion."
One of the standout performances in the Bury game was from young keeper Luke Daniels. The keeper had made save after save to deny Bury and was the penalty hero with saves against Racchi and Bishop:"People have been really harsh on Luke because of one misunderstanding on Thursday night that he's got slaughtered for.
"I came in on Monday and opened my mail and I've got a letter from someone making a complaint that Luke Daniels has cost us and it's time to change him and bring somebody else back.People are so quick to make decisions and hang people out to dry.
"Luke is a very good goalkeeper and I'm not surprised that he made so many important saves.I'm delighted that he made so many saves and helped to win the game for us.
"On Sunday I think he answered all his critics, he performer liked a man possessed and the saves he made were superb.
"When it came to the penalty shoot-out he got into their players heads and psyched them out and it was affective."
When it came to the penalty shoot-out the Town players showed their composure to slot every kick past Wayne Brown.Ben Davies, Moses Ashikodi, Kevin McIntyre and David Worrall converted their kicks and Simmo revealed to ShrewsWeb who the fifth taker was going to be: "The players were as calm as you could ask anyone to be when it came to the penalties.
"We talked about it on the Friday, on the Saturday and when we had our little huddle before the penalties and the last thing we said to them was to make their decision then the minute you step out don't change it.
"I think that helped as the result was the right one with all four of them scoring and we got our rewards.
"The fifth penalty taker was Darren Moss and it was absolutely brilliant because when I asked who wanted to be one of the five penalty takers we had seven players who all wanted it.Normally it's a case of having two or three who want to take and I then have to find a couple more but on Sunday I had to leave two out of it.
"That is a real positive and it shows how confident the players were at that point."
The preparation now begins for the play-off final on May 23trd at Wembley Stadium. The focus for the manager and coaching staff is to get things sorted this week to allow the players to fully focus on the training ahead of the big game: "I think we have to try and keep it as normal as we can for the players in the run up to the final.
"We will be triaging this week as normal and will be getting everyone together and make sure their heads are right.
"We'll have a rest over the weekend and then on Monday the build up will really start with the team preparation.
"It's all about sorting out the little nitty gritty things that we've been talking about like kit issues, mascots, tickets, who sits where, who goes on what coach and all those things that need to be dealt with.
"We can get all that sorted out and then from Monday my job with the staff will be to get everyone training; we won't need to get them focused as they already are."
There is just under 2 weeks until the final and that is good news as it will allow a number of the squad a little rest to get over a few bumps and knocks: "It's good in that way as we have 10 or 11 players who are carrying knocks at the moment, some who were involved on Sunday and some who weren't and gives us a little bit of a breathing space.
"We've got Rachel down to help Nathan because it is a bit like Emergency Ward 10 down there.
"Hopefully come the weekend everyone will want to be involved and by Monday I'm hoping to have 99% of the players training and will select a squad from that."
There was some bad news for Steve Leslie as the club will not be appealing the red card that he picked up at Bury.Simmo revealed to ShrewsWeb that video evidence is not conclusive: "After consultation with the referees and the FA the club has taken the decision to retract the appeal as it was felt that the video evidence does not put the referee's decision in doubt.
"It was felt that the appeal could be seen as a frivolous one and if the appeal went against the club then Steve could receive another game ban to add to the three that he already has.
"Everyone at the club feels for Steve and has sympathy of his position but sometimes you have to take decision that look at the bigger picture."
