Paul Murray has added a little bit of much needed experience and guile to the Town side over the season. His performances in the midfield have continued to improve and his contribution on the field has helped to propel Town into the play-offs.
The semi-final win over Bury has now set Town up with a Wembley final against Gillingham this Saturday. It is a game that Muzza is really looking forward too as it will be his first chance to play on the Wembley pitch: "It's a great game for the whole of the club and a great day for me personally.
"I've been in football for around 16 years now but this will be the first time that I get the chance to play at Wembley.
"I went there in 94 for the Auto Windscreens final but never got on the bench of played.
"It is a big occasion for the club; obviously they were there 2 years ago when Wembley had just opened.Crowds maybe a little down on compared to then but everyone is excited about this massive occasion for Shrewsbury."
Town's results have been mixed over the season but in recent away games they have shown the strength and determination to get the results needed.A side needs to hit that bit of momentum at the right time and Town seem to be doing that on their travels: "We had a massive game at Rotherham just to keep us in it, then we had to go to Dagenham to get in the playoffs and we did both of those things.
"We lost at home to Bury but then went to their place and won when a lot of people had written us off.
"Our form going into the game is good, plus the fact that Holty hasn't scored for a couple of games so hopefully he and the rest of us can deliver on the big stage."
The togetherness and quality of the squad has seen them show a great determination and battle in recent games to achieve their place in the final: "We didn't stop right until the last minute and got the goal that we deserved to take it into extra time. That was tough but Luke produced some unbelievable saves and a great goalkeeping display.
"That little extra endeavour and hard work has got us the reward of an extra game at Wembley.
"It's funny how it all boils down to just one game, one split second or one mistake could mean that a team is in league 1.
"We don't want to play those 48 league games and then those extra games and not fulfil our ultimate goal.
"The way the lads have been for the last few weeks with the togetherness and the craic around the changing rooms makes me believe that we've got it and we will achieve it."
The mix of the squad ahead of Wembley seems to better this time with more experience. The additions in the summer brought more experience but the likes of Langmead and Ashton played in the last Wembley final and now have another couple more first team experience under their belts: "You've got me, Graham, even Holty is quite experienced, Mossy has played a lot of games and a lot of the lads have already been at Wembley.
"We've got a good mix of experience and youth and that gives a great balance and feel to the side.
"I really look at our team and think we are potentially so good even though we have tended to flit in and out over the season at times.
"On the big stage I think it will be ideal for the individual's to show what they can do and for the side to show that as well."
This time there has been just under 2 weeks since the semi-final game with Bury and the final against Gillingham. This has helped the players to recover but also to get the little bits of planning sorted to allow them to focus on the task ahead: "I think the thing with the week that has passed is that the family tickets are sorted, how they are travelling on the train and everything is done now and all that we have to think about is the football.
"We've got one more massive game at Wembley and what rides on it is huge but it is just one more game for us.All it is is another game away from home and we need to keep our away form up.
"This week is about the preparation and looking ahead to the game and everyone is fully focused on to that."
Muzza is quietly confident going into the final but hopes that the lads stay focused on the day: "I hope the lads don't think about the occasion too much on the day and the crowd inside the stadium as it's just another game.
"You look around on the pitch and it's the same 22 players out there playing a game of football.
"We've already played Gillingham twice this season and beaten them 7-0 at our place and drew 2-2 at theirs'.We probably should have come out of the game at their place with a better result.
"We have to go into the game with a little bit of confidence as we are unbeaten against them."
And the right result at Wembley on Saturday would see the perfect end to a long season: "It could be an amazing finish to the season if we go about things the right way and play to our potential.
"There are times this season where we have done well in the league and then gone through a little patch. Then people were wondering if we were going to make it so we have done things the hard way.
"We've done everything the hard way this season but we've turned the away form on its head and won the last three games away from home.
"We have done it the hard way and I think we will do it this way and the way the season will pan out for us."
