Town have bolstered their attacking options with the addition of young striker Jake Robinson on a two year deal.
Brighton born Robinson progressed through his home town clubs youth set-up and into the first team. He's made over 120 appearances for the Seagulls as well as 30 plus for Aldershot in two loan periods.
His contract at Brighton expired at the end of this season and became available on a free transfer.
Town manager Paul Simpson had been keeping an eye on Jake's situation and was pleased to have finally signed the player: "I'm delighted that we've been able to get Jake Robinson to sign for the club.
"He's a player who I have liked for a number of years and kept an eye on how he's been developing.
"He's a young lad who got into the Brighton side at a very young age, played a number of games for them and did very well. He was always thought of as a bright young player but just seemed to lose his way a little bit and fell out of favour.
"I thought he did well when he came on against us in the JPT game here last season and I tried to bring him into the before the loan window closed but we couldn't manage to do that.
"He then went out to Aldershot and did very well and got to know this league well."
Simmo is hoping that Jake will bring that little bit of extra power to his forward line. He sees the youngster as a player who will add something different to his options: "He's a forward player with good movement, got an eye for the goal and is still only 22 years of age.
"He has things that he needs to improve on but he's still a young player and if there was nothing that he needed to learn then he wouldn't be playing at this level.
"I'm looking forward to getting to work with him and getting him up the fitness levels that I want all the players to be at and we will look forward to him getting some goals for us.
"Jake isn't a target man he is a player who likes to drop off the main striker and pick things up to feet.
"He finds himself dropping into little holes where he can create that bit of space, he's got good movement and is the type of player who will show and then spin away and get in behind."
Town's goals last season came predominately from the feet of Grant Holt with him finding the net 28 times. Simmo tried a number of different players to partner Holty but none seemed to really click but he is hoping that Jake will fit that role: "I see him as a partner for Holty and we've got to try and find a combination up there whether he's playing with one striker off him or with two others and a central two.
"Last year I think we tried around 6 different partners for Grant Holt and we have to work to look for the right combination through the team that gives us a strong chance of being successful.
"He's the type of player that I've been looking for and I've tried to bring in players to fill that role but unfortunately they didn't do the job I was looking for.
"Jake coming in and Craig Disley coming in will add to what we've got and hopefully more will follow."
