Conditions in Dale
With parts of the country currently experiencing some cold weather Town fans have been getting touch with us regarding Saturday's trip to Spotland.
There has been light snow in Rochdale but the club had got the covers down quickly and as things stand at the moment the surface is fine.
Dale will take the covers off early in the morning and have assembled a number of people to help shift any standing snow. The Spotland pitch remains soft and the aim is to leave the snow on top of the frost covers to help protect it from tonight's freezing temperatures that could go as low as -6.
"The pitch this morning is 100% playable and I'm very optimistic for Saturday," said Dale's head groundsman Phil Collinson.
With the temperature set to dip so low and only a degree or two forecast for Saturday there will be a precautionary pitch inspection at 10am by referee Rob Shoebridge.
We will update ShrewsWeb with the results of this pitch inspection as soon as we get them on Saturday morning.
