The news comes as a blow to Paul Simpson whose squad was beginning to look more positive on the injury front: "We've had some back news on Thursday with Jake Simpson who went for an MRI scan.
"He is likely to be out for 12 weeks as he has an edema to the growth plate at the head of his tibia and will have possibly 6 weeks on crutches to have no weight bearing on it.
"These are things you have to put up with as a professional player and as a manager and as a coach.
"We seem to have been smacked over the head a little too much with the unlucky stick so far this season when it comes to injuries but we've got to deal with and hope that ones who get called up because of injuries so themselves justice."
