Update: Hull City have just recalled Jamie Devitt as he maybe invovled in their squad for the weekends game with Wigan.

With the end of 2009 in sight this means that the loan transfer window will reopen and Simmo is weighing up his options.

2009 has seen Town hit with a number of injuries and with the New Year upon us there has been another addition to the injury list

To start with we spoke about Andre Gray's loan at AFC Telford and Simmo confirmed that the paperwork was being completed this morning to allow Andre another month down the A5: "We are hoping to get all the paperwork sorted out in time for him to play against Stafford Rangers on Saturday.

"It's the same loan arrangement as last time but we have also asked for a 24 hour recall to be added.

This means Andre can go and get matches but if we need him back here then we can recall him at short notice.

"There were 6 or 7 games that he could have been involved in but with him pulling his hamstring it meant he missed a few games and with Telford having some games called off that also affected his appearances.

"He got himself a goal on Boxing Day and had a lively performance after that so hopefully he can benefit from more games.

"Maybe it will be the case that we can bring him back and he could then be ready to come into our 18."

On the injury front keeper Andreas Arestidou has been struggling for a while with a groin problem. He's been playing through the pain but has now got to the point where he needs a hernia operation which will keep him out for around a month: "Andreas has been struggling for the past 3 or 4 weeks with a real soreness in his groin.

"We've found out that he needs a hernia problem and that will happen in the next few days.

"He really should have had it before Christmas but as Chris Neal wasn't fit I asked him if he would go through the pain barrier and get on with it.

"He has done that and I thank him for that but we got to position on the 27th when he was in absolute agony."

Town currently have David Button, Waide Fairhurst and Jamie Devitt on loan but all their loans are up shortly.Simmo revealed that he is looking to extend Button loan but that Fairhurst and Devitt will be returning to their parent clubs: "We are down to Chris Neal as the only fit keeper if David Button has to go back but I am looking to extend that if we get agreement from Tottenham and from the chairman.

"Waide Fairhurst has gone back to Doncaster to get assessment on his foot injury, our Doc and Physio estimate that he will be out for around 3 weeks.

"We haven't heard back from Doncaster as yet but it looks likely that we won't see Waide again.

"Jamie Devitt's loan finishes on Saturday, he's been training with us until then but I won't be extending it after that.

"I thought he had a really good impact when he first came into the club but unfortunately it hasn't continued that way.I'd like to thank him for all that he has done but it now opens up an opportunity to get someone else in down that right hand side area."

With the window reopening Simmo will now be looking at the options available to bolster his squad. He does have some room to manoeuvre but knows that he has to work within the clubs budget: "If I can change the squad around a little bit then I would like to do that because after 23 games it's not a fluke that we are just outside the playoffs.

"That's not a position I want to be in, I want to be up in the higher places, I want to be successful here and bring a promotion.

"I also understand the business side of things and know that we have got to be sensible during a period where everyone is struggling financially.

"I accept that some of the players not performing are ones that I have brought in but if they aren't performing then we have to change it around."
