As the cold weather continues to grip the country the day to day work at the club continues.
The weather has affected the games and training for clubs in all divisions and Shrewsbury Town are no different.
ShrewsWeb spoke to Simmo about the conditions and how they have been affecting his training plans:"It is a frustrating time as you have days where players can't make it in because of the weather and we don't have an indoor facility that we can use.
"It does give you a problem but its part and parcel of life and it's no use getting upset about the weather as we can't change it.
"We are all hoping that it will start to clear soon and we can get back to going out and training on the grass.
"We've made the best of it and had most days we've been able to get on the astro turf whether it is at the Sports Village or on the Power League so we have been lucky to have their help.
"I had to give the players the weekend off to have a bit of time with their families to get freshened up and then come back in today.
"We are back on astro turf today and are hoping to go down and have a practice game against TNS over the next couple of days on their pitch.
"It's all about doing what we can to be prepared for this weekend's game, and if that doesn't happen then the weekend after."
Town's game at home to Barnet was one of those to fall foul of the weather with the Prostar pitch frozen. It was a bit of a blow after two good away victories that saw Town looking forward to keeping that run going: "You want to keep it going and with the little problems that Barnet were having you want the game on. I think it was 10 games without a win for them and they have Yakubu struggling with a thigh problem, Sinclair was suspended so it would have been a good game to get on.
"We can't do anything about it and luckily it's the first we've had called off this season so we aren't falling behind and looking at a big fixture backlog.
"Some sides are now looking at a number of games to be played so hopefully the points on the board will prove valuable to us.
"Hopefully we can go to Burton this weekend and make it a hatrick of away wins which will be a very nice place to be in."
With the transfer window now open Simmo is able to look at the squad and see if there are any tweaks that he can do. David Button's loan from Tottenham Hotspur has already been extended and with Waide Fairhurst and Jamie Devitt returning to their clubs and Glyn Garner's contract coming to an end it gives him some room to manoeuvre: "Myself and the chairman had a meeting over the weekend with a player and his agent but that hasn't happened at the moment.
"There are things that we've been trying to manoeuvre and get things going but they can take time to happen.
"The problem we have at the moment is that we can't have a look at trialists because we can't get out to train properly.
"Hopefully that will change so by the end of the transfer window we will have some new faces in and some players might leave, if we are still at a point where we aren't happy with the squad then we will look to the loan market as well.
"We have some room with players leaving at the start of January but we have added Will Richards, Jon Taylor and Danny Taylor to the squad training so numbers wise we are ok."
With the New Year starting Simmo is looking for the squad to build on their current position of 4th in the table. He's calling everyone to stick together and help the club push for a successful end to the season: "We want a feeling where everyone is in that together but I don't think has happened so far this season.
"We are currently sitting in 4th position, and I hope we can say this for a lot longer, we are still unbeaten in 2010.
"The football club isn't in a bad position, we know the accounts for the last financial period show a lose but the club can deal with that.
"We are doing everything we can as a football club to do things right, we've got a fantastic stadium, good facilities and a chairman who wants to be successful. Not for himself but for the supporters and to bring success to this stadium.
"Let's all stick together, we know there will be ups and downs until the end of the season but if we stick together then it doesn't half make it good end of season if you achieve something and that is what we are all trying to do."
