Posted on: Sat 23 Jan 2010

Shrewsbury Town and Omer Riza have come to an agreement on an early release from his contract.

Omer joined Town last season as he tried to overturn a ban from the Turkish FA which stopped him playing competitive football. This finally came through in late April and he made his debut shortly after that.

This season his first team appearances have restricted through injury and competition for places. He spoke to Town manager Paul Simpson about his chances for the rest of the season and has decided that his future lies elsewhere.

Simmo broke the news to ShrewsWeb and thanked Omer for his efforts and wished him well for the future: "Omer came to see me to discuss his position at the club and as always I was honest with him and told him I couldn't see him being a regular in our side this season.

"With this in mind he decided that he wanted to be released from his contract and an agreement was made for an early termination.

"I'd like to thank Omer for his efforts whilst he has been with the club and wish him all the best for the future.

"This now leaves us short in the squad and we will endeavour to find a suitable replacement who can help take the club forward."
