Questions to the Club
This new section of the website is designed to allow a much easier way to ask the club questions and to get answers.
There are two ways of asking questions:-
Email: to questions@shrewsburytown.co.uk
Or
Web: Pop along to the Questions to the Club section on ShrewsChat.
We will then aim to get you an answer, or begin dialogue with the correct person at the club, with 7 working days.
Every few weeks we will publish an update on the website of a selection of the questions that have been sent in and the answer that have been sent.
The aim is to give fans a smoother more efficient way of asking the club questions.
When you email questions@shrewsburytown.co.uk please indicate if you would rather the question not be displayed on the website.
Fans will understand that there may be times when some questions may not be answerable due confidentiality and legal restrictions, but you will be informed of this.

Q - Is there any chance that the Crewe away game will be moved?
I was delighted to see STFC get some live coverage on TV but I have ended up with two batches of non refundable train tickets to Manchester for the Bury game. We managed to change the dates at the usual costs due to the Macc game being on a Saturday but this would not be the case for Crewe?
Just thought I would check
Richard Buxbaum
A - Hi Richard
I can only say that, at this stage, we have had no contact from the League that there will be a change. However, if the TV Company were to select it then the chances are it would change. It does seem unlikely though. Thanks for your away support.

Q - Do we have an issue with the pitch on the dugout side we seem to have a 30mt patch that seems very heavy compared to the rest of the pitch? Do we have an issue with the drainage or do we have an underground problem with the sprinkler system?
Chris Partridge - ShrewsChat
A - The playing surface has been a problem for most of the season, as the Ground Staff have had to deal with a thatch problem, which has been restricting root growth; therefore, the bare patches were not growing at all. There is a major investment in the pitch at the end of the season, in an attempt to get it back to somewhere near its best….

Q - What was the problem towards the end of the first half? At the south stand end there were nearly fisticuffs between the two of them. Ok there may have been a communication breakdown but for goodness sake wait until half time and have the argument in the dressing room not in front of 2000 fans in the south stand and 1000 kids and Dads ( and Mums ) in the family stand. Not very professional gentlemen and it could have been exploited by the opposition. Hope you have both kissed and made up.
Les Crane - ShrewsChat
A - The incident that you refer to was regrettable, as it took place in front of some of the younger supporters. However, it is good that two professional footballers, have that passion, to do things right for this club. These incidents NEVER go back into the dressing room, being left out on the pitch. There is no problem between the two players concerned.

Q - Do you think it would be productive to publish the Prostar Ground Regs on here or the main website so that fans could see what is and isn't a no no at the ground? I can see that it would be difficult to point out an error to someone inside the ground when they are on the wall outside the turnstiles and also for visiting fans they can at least have the opportunity of viewing the rules before visiting the Ground.

A - I am getting the ground regulations put on the website this week. Thanks for a great suggestion.

Q - With reference to price reductions for forthcoming games, Accrington etc. The article on ShrewsWeb made reference to rewarding season ticket holders in particularly, my question is how are they to be rewarded and when will it be announced?
Mark Roberts - ShrewsChat
A - We will endeavour to continue to offer and promote all sorts of initiatives at the football club, some of which will only be available to our Season Ticket Holders.
Keep watching Shrews Web for further updates as we will post as soon as they become available.
Kind Regards

Q - To Whom It May Concern,
I would respectfully ask whether Shrewsbury FC have the Loggerheads Flag that was floated around Wembley prior to the Play Off final versus Bristol Rovers?
Is it possible to purchase it from yourselves on a negotiated price?
In my and my friends enquires we have been told by Coca Cola Ent. that they, as they do with all clubs flags shown at Wembley are boxed and sent to the relevant clubs. They have verbally assured us that the Loggerheads Flag was boxed, sent and received by yourselves.
Further enquires at the club revealed conflicting answers, from ' No we have not got it ' to ' Yes I have seen it boxed in a storeroom '.
The answers to these questions would be appreciated
Regards
Callum S. Walsh
A - Thanks for your enquiry about the 'Loggerhead' flag from Wembley 2006/7 season.
I have made enquiries as to its whereabouts, and I can confirm that it was never received by the club. The thoughts are that as it was the year of the move from Gay Meadow to Prostar, there may have been difficulty in delivery….. I have written to Coca Cola myself, some 12 months ago, in search of it, and like you, were told it had been packaged and sent to the club….
It may be sitting as a pair of net curtains somewhere in Shropshire, however, all of the potential recipients of the package, have been spoken to.
I am sorry I can't help any further…..
Thanks

Q - Hi, I am one of the 'Ipswich Shrews' who regularly follow the Town home and away.
A home game for us involves 8 hours travel and a round trip of 400 miles for my friend Lewis & I. We travel by car.
When we get to Shrewsbury we have to park up at the Brooklands or Pritchards car park and pay £5 for the privilege.
We would much rather give our £5 to the club for a space on the car park at Prostar Stadium
I live near Colchester. On Monday this week I decided to attend the game at Colchester v MK Dons which was scheduled for the next night.
The new Colchester Stadium is an almost identical set up to the Prostar and knowing that local parking restrictions apply I phoned Colchester to see about a car park space.
Calling a number publicised on their web pages I spoke to a very pleasant lady who simply took my debit card number and gave me a booking reference number. She told me my car park ticket would be available for collection once I arrived at the car park. All l had to do was quote the booking reference and give my surname. Note-no car registration number was required,
Sure enough, come Tuesday, at the car park entrance I was met by another very polite lady who had a bundle of alphabetically sorted envelopes with my car park ticket therein. She directed me where to park and said she hoped I enjoyed the game. There were also several helpful stewards marshalling the parking
All in all a very simple and effective system which added to my enjoyment of the evening.
I think Town are missing a trick here and could boost income as well as supporter goodwill by implementing such a simple system to help those like Lewis & I who spend hours getting to the Prostar but, without permits, are not welcome on the car park.
I'd really appreciate it if a senior spokesman could comment on this important issue.
Many thanks,
Mike Schorah

A - At The Prostar Stadium, we have a limited number of parking spaces, which do sell out for most games. We charge £7 at the stadium and £5 at Sutton Grange nursery. They have to be purchased in advance, as per our local authority requirements, however, they are all sold out come match day.
Hope this helps, as our friendly ticket office staff, will be only too pleased to let you have parking, at the stadium, as and when available.
Q1) Will the players out of contract be sorted (to stay and go) within a reasonable time frame and not left until the last minute so we lose playing assets for nothing at the end of the season?
Q2) It was mentioned in a press release that as casual fans will be receiving a discount on the price of entry for the Accrington game, and that these promotions would continue throughout the year for "season ticket holders" - I understand that plans may not be in pace for the Loyal season ticket holders to be rewarded in much the same way the casual fans have been, but what ideas have the club had so far that prompted that statement on the website (27th Jan 2010)
Q3) Having looked at the results of the 2009 STFC travel survey, what proposals will be put in place to try and reduce the high levels of people arriving at the site via private car (park and walk or direct to the site). Its noted that a significant proportion of people said that they would look to travel to the stadium in other modes than car if they were more aware of, or there were more bus and rail services (27%), and 4% said they would use bike if the cycle parking facilities were better. In general the survey seems to have identified some gaps and areas where the travel plan to the site could be improved, and really was interested into how these results are proposed to be used?

A - The re negotiation of contracts, is something that is dealt with by the Manager and Chairman…..
It is really an ongoing topic, however, with certain negotiations, it is important to have an idea as to which division the club will be in….. This is something that has to be considered.

A2 - We consider any price reductions carefully both from a commercial point of view and from a customer satisfaction perspective, it is always a fine balance to achieve.
The Accrington game will give us an opportunity to promote the Club to a wider audience and is our nominated "Enjoy the Game " match, whereby we encourage supporters of families to join us here at the Prostar, it is my full intention to offer other promotions and offers which are exclusive to season ticket holders over the remainder of the year.
Thank you for all your support to date
IB
A3 - In relation to the Travel Plan….. The results of the 'survey' have just been released, and the findings are to be collated into a working report…. We have a liaison group meeting, where the travel plan and its development are discussed, in late February; therefore, I am certain, any findings will be reported through the website.
