Terry Dunfield

Posted on: Sun 31 Jan 2010

After a decent performance in Towns 1-0 home defeat to Accrington, Terry Dunfield shared his manager's disappointment in the result: "It's disappointing after such a good run to let it slip like that."

The game began relatively brightly for Town, and it was looking quite even. But Town never recovered Bobby Grants 26th minute winner, and the points went north with Stanley.
"We started out quite well, but after they scored, it knocked the stuffing out of us a bit. No disrespect to Accrington, but we can't give them that lift and give them something to battle for."

Accrington held on to their lead and the Canadian pointed to a strong performance from the visitors as one of the reasons for our defeat: "We've got to give some credit to Accrington; I thought they did O.K., and once they had scored it was difficult to get the ball off them"

It wasn't all one way traffic though, and after the break the team got close to an equalizer, a positive not lost on Dunfield:" If we had played the way we did in the second half, I think we would have been O.K. I think our second half was better, I think we worked harder, we closed them down better"

Looking back over the last few games and some decent performances, Terry was philosophical in defeat, given the context of our recent form: "If we knew we were going to be where we are before we started, we would have taken it."

But the midfielder was keen to put the game behind him and start talking about the start of the next run: "We need to go to Macclesfield, be positive and get something out of that and then be right for the next home game."
