Disley Update

Posted on: Tue 23 Feb 2010

Shrewsbury Town midfielder Craig Disley was carried from the Don Valley pitch in last night's 1-1 draw with Rotherham United.Craig caught his ankle when he went in for a challenge and his body carried on putting pressure on and twisting the ankle.

Craig returned to Shrewsbury last night and was X-rayed to see what damage there is to the ankle. The x-ray has revealed a break in the ankle and the early prognosis is that Craig will be missing for around 8 weeks.

Another player who will be missing is Shane Cansdell-Sherriff who picked up another booking in the game last night. This puts him on the 10 yellow card mark and an automatic two game ban starting on Saturday with the AFC Bournemouth game.

The news was a double blow for Town manager Paul Simpson when he spoke to ShrewsWeb this morning: "It is a massive blow for Craig as he was just getting back into the side after a couple of other injuries.

"We are booking him in to see a specialist and once we have the results from that we will know the long term implications. The x-rays revealed a break to the ankle and the early prognosis is that Craig will be missing for around 8 weeks but until the swelling has gone down we won't know for sure.

"Shane picking up a tenth booking is another blow for us but we are lucky in that we have other players who can come into the squad."
