Craig Disley was stretchered from the pitch in Town's 1-1 draw with Rotherham on Monday night. The early prognosis was that Craig had broken his ankle but he has seen a consultant this afternoon who has confirmed this isn't the case.

It is some good news for Craig but he has ruptured a ligament and torn the capsule in his ankle. This means that he will still be missing for anywhere between 8 to 12 weeks but it does mean that he can now start on his rehab.

Craig popped into the club after he'd seen the consultant and ShrewsWeb grabbed a quick word with him: "The consultant has confirmed that there is no break which is good news, but I've ruptured one of the ligaments which isn't good news.

"The timescale for recovery looks to be the same as was originally thought but to have no break has to be a good thing.

"There are no operations needed so that is a big positive and means that we can start the rehab as soon as possible.

"They've taken the initial cast off and I'm in a 'Beckham boot' at the moment, like he wore when he had the metatarsal.I'm still on crutches but the boot is something that you can walk with as I get a bit more confidence."

Craig has had a stop start first season with Town and was on the way to securing a regular first team slot after recovering from an earlier knee injury: "To think you are over your injury nightmare only to then get a new serious one is a little disappointing.

"I didn't think I had the best of games when I came back but over the last few games I think I've started to show what I'm about.

"My confidence has been growing the more football games I played so for the injury to come at this time is disappointing for me.

"There's nothing I can do about now other than to remain positive, work on my rehab and get fit as soon as possible.

"That's football though and you have to keep positive and try to move on from it.

"There are still a good few weeks left to his season and my aim is to try and get back and feature at sometime this season."

It was only a few minutes after Craig had come on as a second half replacement for Paul Murray that he picked up the injury. It looked quite a bad one on the replays on Sky TV and it was proved to be just that: "I was just trying to make a tackle but then the whole of my weight was going through my foot, It got stuck and then I went right over it.

"At the time I thought I was bad but when Nathan was on the pitch I thought it was all right but then realised it wasn't.

"It is a bad one and that has been two serious injuries this year which isn't like me."

The news is good for Craig and for his manager Paul Simpson as he looks to his side to continue their recent good form.Simmo is glad that Craig can now start his rehab but is making sure that goes well and he comes back both fit and right and isn't rushed to return: "The consultant has revealed that no surgery is needed and that is good news for Craig.

"It still means that we are looking at the same timescale for him to recover.

"It is possible that Craig will be available before the end of the season which is great news, but our priority is that he comes back fully recovered and right for next season."
