Shane Cansdell-Sherriff recently put pen to paper on a new contract to keep him at Shrewsbury Town for at least another two seasons.
The likeable Aussie has put in some assured performances over the last two years since joining from Tranmere Rovers. His adaptability and commitment has seen the Town faithful warm to him over the last two seasons.
ShrewsWeb spoke to Shane who was happy to be staying with the club: "I'm very happy to be staying with the club and looking forward to helping us achieve some success.
"I had a long chat over the summer and then with the new manager after he came in and he showed his interest in me.
"The club has a very positive atmosphere at the moment and want to go forward and that is something I want to be part of."
Shane has now spent two seasons with Shrewsbury Town and has really enjoyed that time with the club: "I know the place now and feel part of it having spent and enjoyed the two seasons here.
"I hope that I've now got a good future at the club and look forward to the next two seasons."
Since the departure of Paul Simpson the managerial position had meant some uncertainty for some players. Now that Graham Turner is onboard it means everyone can now look forward to next season:"He seems a nice manager, has a great reputation in the game and I really look forward to working with him.
"It is an exciting time to be around the club and hopefully that positivity can help us along."
The new deal that Shane has signed is a two year deal and that takes some of the pressure of him. There was interest from other clubs for his signature but in the end Shane opted to stay with Town to hopefully be part of a successful side: "It is good as it gives you a second year if things don't go to plan and it gives you a longer time at the club.
"I want to be involved with the club for a long time and hope to be here when we achieve promotion.
"The club has big expectations and the club is trying to put the right people in place to make that happen.
"It is an exciting time to be at Shrewsbury and I am really looking forward to coming back to work.
"I'm starting to do the running and fitness work to get myself ready for the start of pre-season."
The new manager will be looking to add to and strengthen the squad but there is a nucleus of players who were here over the last couple of seasons. That's gives the squad a little bit of stability and should hopefully mean a good team sprit from the off: "There are a lot of players who have been around for a while and they will be looking to bring in a few new faces to strengthen the squad.
"With the main nucleus of the team being there then that should mean the team spirit should grow quickly.
"That will put us in a great position and I really want to gain promotion with the club."
