Mat Sadler

Posted on: Fri 13 Aug 2010

Mat Sadler has slotted into the new look Shrewsbury Town side with apparent ease. His performances so far have caught the eye and have helped Town to their first two victories of the season.

Ahead of the Macclesfield Town game ShrewsWeb spoke to Mat and started by suggesting that the season had gone well so far: "Two fantastic results to start the season with the most important one being Saturday's result against Bradford.

"To come from behind against a Bradford team many think will be challenging for promotion was a big result for us.

"To go down to 10 men and still get a result was a big achievement for the team.

"It has been a good start but that's all that it is, we now have the trip to Macclesfield to focus our thoughts on."

Next up in the npower League programme is the short trip to Moss Rose to take on Macclesfield Town.Town have started the season with two games on the bounce at the Greenhous Meadow but now face the tough test of the first away trip: "We have been spoilt as we've had the last two games at our stadium and the last two pre-season games on our pitch.

"We have shown what we can do at home and picked up some decent results which has put is in a sort of comfort zone that we are happy to play at home.

"What we now have is a big game for us at Macclesfield and a big test for us.

"It is a tight ground with a crowd that can is right on top of you so something that will be a different challenge for us but one that we are going out to win."

Town's focus this season is about themselves and not what the opposition can do.It's all about putting the hard work in to gain the performances and earn the chance to play: "Every game is really all about what we do as a team and what we can achieve.

"John Trewick is always speaking about the fact that the team across the way is just a team of people who are there to try and take the 3 points off us.

"We have to impose ourselves on the game and if we do that then I believe that there are few teams who can live with us.

"It is all about us, about us playing our game, trying not to divert away from our passing game too much but knowing that at times we will have to go longer and deeper but we have the balance to do that."

It's a good positive start for us but we don't get carried away as it's still early , let's look at where we are in ten games time and then have a better view on things.
