Changes To ShrewsWorld

Posted on: Thu 12 Oct 2006
This is the article we are putting up this afternoon, please feel free to use and adapt.

(YOUR CLUB) World subscribers may start to see a change in the way they access all areas of the World site.

Due to the increased amount of theft of copyright material over the last year, we have in conjunction with Premium TV and Football League Interactive, worked to develop a new access mechanism.

The rise of peer-to-peer file sharing networks has created a major obstacle for media companies to protect their copyright material.

The technical solution to this problem is referred to as DRM (Digital Rights Management).

Premium TV have adopted Windows Media DRM as the vast majority of our end users use Windows (85%+) and this is by far the most commonly implemented, tried and trusted technology for DRM on the Internet.

This lack of standards means that content secure with Windows Media DRM can not be viewed on an Apple computer (Mac).

Further developments are being worked on which will allow non-Windows browsers (Firefox etc) to view DRM content and this is planned for roll-out in late 2006.

If you do experience any problems please send queries to customerservices@premiumtv.co.uk with as much detail as possible to allow the most efficient response:
