Town v Barnet
Marcus Braddock previews the game
Tonight sees us play Barnet in a fixture rearranged from early last month. Barnet started the season pretty well, winning 7 from their first 11 games this season. Autumn has blown a cooling wind on the fortunes of the North London club, with the bees only winning 1 game in the league since late October. The one game in question being Barnet's last one on Saturday, when they ran out as 3-0 winners against Aldershot at Underhill. It was a much needed win for Barnet, with a brace from John O'Flynn and one from Micah Hyde ending a 13 match winless streak.

The Manager
Ian Hendon was a defender and began his career with Tottenham, winning the FA Youth Cup in 1990. He made seven appearances for the club over the next four years, and represented England at Under-21 level seven times.
He had loan spells with Portsmouth, Leyton Orient and Barnsley before joining Orient on a permanent basis in August 1993. He spent three and a half years at Brisbane Road, with a brief loan spell at Birmingham City in 1995.
He later played for Notts County, Northampton Town, and Sheffield Wednesday and Peterborough United before joining then Conference side Barnet in 2003, having been on loan there six months previously.
Teaming up with Peter Shreeves, who has coached him at Tottenham and Sheffield Wednesday, he captained the club in their return to the Football League in his second season, At the end of the 2006-07 he decided to work as Assistant Manager, and featured in the early fixtures of 2007-08, before dropping back as new players arrived. He remained registered as a player until the end of the 2008/09 season when he retired as a player to concentrate solely on management.
Following Paul Fairclough's step-down after the 3-0 Boxing Day defeat to Aldershot Town, Hendon was asked to take over the side. Performances improved under Hendon, and some adept loan signings including Paul Furlong, Matt Lockwood, Jake Cole and Yannick Bolasie helped to drag The Bees away from the relegation battle and to mathematical safety with four games to spare.
He declared his desire to take the job permanently after his temporary reign concluded in May 2009, and was given the job on a 2 year deal in April.

Prediction
This was looking a relatively easy game until Saturdays results came through, and now we have to deal with a resurgent Barnet. That said, it was a home win and the Bees have only won 2 away games all season. There are some very good players in the Barnet side, and if they click on the night, we could have quite a game on our hands. Players like Albert Adomah, who have caught the attention of bigger clubs recently, can hurt any side, and we will need to be alert to the danger he poses. So a close came to come, but I think we will have enough steel to see us through, 2-1 to the Town.

ShrewsWeb spoke to Paul Simpson to get his thought's ahead of the game
On Macclesfield at the weekend...
I was absolutely delighted by the way they set about it on Saturday. All of the talk going into the game was reminding them of the feeling we had last year, reminding them about how they caused us problems on Boxing Day. Reiterating what the circumstances were going to be like, what the surroundings were going to be like at Macclesfield, What to expect from Macclesfield in the way that they play. They didn't disappoint us, they were strong, they were physical, they caused us problems, and it did take us a little bit of time to settle down. But we hung in there, we showed great determination to want to stay and defend it and we kept it at 0-0, we kept ourselves in the game to the point where we could actually do something ourselves going forward.
On Barnet Tonight...
I was pleased that they won on Saturday; it means that that's gone out the window; the law of averages says that sooner or later they are going to win a game. They did it Saturday; we've now got to take the confidence and the belief from Macclesfield. Go out against Barnet, stop them from playing, stop their creative players from having a good evening, by making sure that ours are a little more positive because they are at home. Work with the same attitude that we had, and possibly have a little more quality going forward.
