Warrington born Ian Sharps started his career at Tranmere Rovers as a youth player and then as a central defender in the first team.He spent 8 years with Tranmere and made close to 200 appearances for the Merseyside club, mainly in League One. In 2006, he moved to Rotherham who were in League1 at the time, facing financial problems and were heading for league 2. Following relegation, Sharps played a further two seasons for the Millers and was part of the team that came very close to promotion last season. He signed for us in the summer of 2010, as new manager Graham Turners 1st new signing and has been named club captain for the coming season.
