Neil Ashton signed a pro contract with Tranmere in the summer of 2003 after coming through the youth ranks at Prenton Park. He was an integral part of the youth league and cup winning sides squads at Tranmere.
He joined Salop on loan in January 2005 after Gary Peters looked to add some balance to the left-side of the Town team struggling at the wrong end of the league. He had a really successful period and impressed Gary Peters so much that he offered Neil the chance to join Town full-time.
"Ashy" soon became a fans favourite with his committed style and in July 2007 he signed a new two-year contract. Towards the end of last season Neil had a spell on loan at Macclesfield.
