Marc came up through the Burnley Centre of Excellence and as an apprentice went on loan to Kidderminster Harriers. He was not offered a professional contract at Turf Moor so he joined Bury towards the end of the 2005/06 season and helped them stave off the threat of relegation. This led to a one year contract at Gigg Lane and although he was offered a contract extension by the Shakers Marc opted to join Town in May 2007.
In the 2007/2008 season, Marc was Towns highest assist maker with nine assists adding 4 goals from 25 starts.
