The Whitely Bay born keeper had spells with Newcastle United and Stockport County without making any appearances before a move to Doncaster Rovers.He made his debut for Doncaster in their League Cup game against Wycombe Wanderers in October 2006.During his time at Doncaster he always had tough competition for places from such senior keepers as Neil Sullivan and Barry Roche so found first team starts hard to come by. He had loan spells with Lincoln City and Morecambe and finished the 2009/10 season in goal for Doncaster at Swansea by keeping a clean sheet.After being released he joined up with Shrewsbury Town for pre-season and after impressing in training and in games was offered a two year deal which he accepted.
