With the existing members of the squad we thought we'd change the format around a little. To start with, we pop the questions fans have left on ShrewsChat and e-mailed into us, to Chris. Then we finish off with a quick interview.
Q - What is the main area of your game that you work on the most?
A - Crossing! It's the first thing that I do in training and afterwards I always put in extra work to improve it.
Q - Were you always the fastest kid in your school?
A - Yes.
Q - Which girl out of the celeb industry would you most like to date?
A - Cheryl Cole.
Q - Is Tony Mowbray right to stick so rigidly to his footballing principles now the Baggies are in the Premiership or should he look to win ugly sometimes?
A - Win Ugly just like Stoke City have been doing. I haven't really had chance to watch much of Albion this season but I always say it's better to win ugly. As long as you are winning it doesn't matter how you achieve that.
Q - Chris, you came in for a bit of stick after the Blyth game following a great personal performance in the JPT win against Dagenham. What did you learn from the game and was any of the criticism justified for you and Steve Leslie in particular?
A - I can't really talk about Steve as I'm not Steve Leslie. For me personally the stick helped me become a better person. All the way through your career you are going to have bad games, but the important thing is how you deal with those games. I always look at the games I have played in and know that I was lucky to keep my spot after that game, and it was down to me then to prove that I was worthy of keeping that spot.
Q - What is your favourite flavour soup?
A - As all I have been able to eat since breaking my jaw is soup, I have got a taste for either chicken or tomato.
Q - What's the biggest clanger you remember in a match you have played in?
A - The one that springs to mind is yet another game playing for the cubs. I'd already scored 9 goals in the game and was back for a corner, the balls come across and I've whacked it but it's flown into my own goal. It made it that I'd scored 10 goals but I wasn't going to count that one.
Q - What music do you listen to on the drive into training?
A - R&B
Q - Who are your favourite players to watch?
A - Ronaldo, Lennon, Nani and Kaka are some of the ones that I like to watch.
Q - How good are those orange boots you wear?
A - I love em; I scored my debut goal in them. At the end of the days boots are boots and it doesn't matter what colour they are, but I do like these.
Q - If you had one day left to live, what would you blow all your money on?
A - Not too sure but I guess that I'd just go out and buy everything and anything.
INTERVIEW
We grabbed a quick word with Chris Humphrey, to get his thoughts on how his season has been panning out so far.
We started by suggesting that this was probably his best season in a Town shirt so far: "When I first came to Shrewsbury it was always worrying about whether I'd get the chance to play or not.
"There were a lot of nerves then as I'd just come straight out of the youth team, and going into a first team situation took some adjusting to.
"This season has been by far the best one for me so far."
He has been getting more chances in the first team this season and we wondered if he could put his finger on why: "There are a number of things that have helped to make this the best season.
"I've definitely matured more this season so that is a big factor, and I've also begun to get stronger in my play.
"It always helps when you've got a gaffer who gives you confidence, and also one who can really help you as he used to play in the same position.
"All those positives have helped make me as a person much more confident when I play, and I think that has shown in my performances."
He has had a good run in the side and looked to be nailing down that right wing slot as his own: "Since the gaffer has come in I've played a lot more than I did under Gary Peters.
"That is down in part to my developing as a player, but also fitting into the way that the gaffer likes us to play.
"He likes the team to pass the ball around and to use the wide men to attack the opposition."
Chris's good run was cut short when a flailing elbow away to Lincoln, saw him end up with a broken cheekbone. This saw Chris needing 6 weeks out to allow the bones to heal: "Things like that happen in the game and no one will have a career without injuries.
"It was a bad challenge but I was lucky that I wasn't too disfigured and needed an operation.
"The rehab is going well and hopefully in the next 2 or 3 weeks I can be back playing.
"I was a bit upset by it at the time, but you've got to get on with things and not let setbacks affect you too much.
"When I get back, I can't think that I don't want to go into a challenge as my jaw was broken, I've just got to go out there and do what I do."
The frustrating thing with an injury such as this one, is that physically you do all the running and fitness work but none of the contact - in case it causes more problems to the break: "The hard thing at the moment is training, as I know I can do it all, but I can't do it in case I get a knock.
"I've been training with the lads when we are doing passing drills and the non contact bits, but when they have a game at the end I have to go off on my own.
"That is the hard bit as I know my body is fine, but I have to protect my jaw while it heals."
Chris is out of contract at the end of the season and the injury has cut short that run in the team. He is hoping to get back to fitness and regain his place in the side, to help impress for a new deal: "I just want to get back as quickly as possible now and carry on from where I left off.
"When I'm fit again and the gaffer wants to put me in, that will be up to him to make the decision.
"I'm keeping the fitness up so that when I get the chance, I can show him I'm ready to come back into the team."
Since joining Town as a 17 year old, Chris has grown to love being at Shrewsbury Town. The club gave him his break in first team football and is now very much part of his life: "I've been here for 3 years now and I have really grown to love this club.
"It is the only club that I've played first team football at, and I'm so pleased to be getting that chance.
"Everyone loves to play and the more you get the chance the more you want to keep playing.
"My contract is up at the end of the season so we will just have to wait and see what happens from there."
