After a great result against near rivals Hereford united, Marcus Braddock spoke to goals corer Shane Cansdell-Sherriff about the game and his role in it.
It was a decent enough start to the game until Hereford got a goal against the run of play, but town got to work. Shane praised his team-mates reaction and resolution after going a goal down in a home derby, and the goal scoring defender believes that it was persistence that was the key.
It went well, even though we went a goal down I thought we still played well, it was just one of those freak goals that happen. I thought we did well to bounce back from that, the attitude was great for the boys, once that goal went in, we got the ball down and kept playing and kept pushing and it was just a matter of time before the goal was going to come.
Sherriff Cansdell got Town's second and his second goal of the campaign in the 24th minute, with a great header from a pinpoint delivery and stressed the importance of taking the lead before half time.
It was fantastic to get the second goal before half time, which made it hard for them, as they had a big uphill battle in the second half. The attitude of the boys today was fantastic.
Once Town got the lead, they never looked back and at times played some very neat passing football, something Shane believes comes from the reassurance of winning games.
We can play some good football, we're confident enough to get the ball down and start playing, once we do that we open up teams and make it difficult for them to get to us.
But the Australian defender thinks there is still room for improvement as the season goes on.
We just need, at times, to do a little bit more, sometimes in the second half we dropped off a little bit and allowed the other team to get in a little bit. Still, at the same time they weren't creating much.
The game was interesting in that all the Town goals came from the defence, but Cansdell-Sherriff doesn't care where the goals come from, as long as they keep coming.
It's very rare, I would like to see the odds on that, but yes, it's good that everyone can score; we've said that before, it's not just the strikers who get the goals. We stand up and score this week and the strikers can do it next week.
With the team looking more confident as the games progress, Shane is ready for the next run of games and the possibilities they pose
We've got a few big games ahead of us; we've got an opportunity to go to Bury on Friday night and beat them at home, and go above them in the league. So it's fantastic, the boys are well up for it, there is a great buzz about the team at the moment, and the belief is there.
