Town's reserves are back in action this afternoon when they take on Sheffield United at the Prostar Stadium
Town looked bright in the early on and had a string of good chances to take the lead, Leslie crossed to set-up Riza, Danny Taylor put in a hanging ball that Elder flicked on and then Riza shoed good skill to flick the ball past his marker before bursting down the right and crossing to find Bright whose first time shot flew just wide of the target.
The Prostar pitch had taken a lot of water over the recent days and this was causing a few passes to go astray. The passing game wasn't working for both sides as they tried to get to grips with the conditions and surface.
The best of the chances were still falling to Town and when the home side broke quickly down the left the ball was played into Kris Bright, he had his back to goal but span his marker nicely before driving in low shot that flew just wide of the target.
Town were getting closer to taking the lead with Bright and Elder going near, Steve Leslie was causing problems down the left and Simpson put the ball into his run Leslie did well to beat his marker before driving a low cross that caused panic in the United defence.
Town grabbed the lead 7 minutes into the second half when they got away with a quick break, the bal was with Riza who continued his run forward as the Blades defence dropped off, he played the ball into the run of Elder who took a touch and then drilled in a low shot which took a deflection and looped up over Esteve ad into the net.
David Button had so far had little to do in the Town goal but he showed his quality when the ball fell to Kasim who hit a great first time dipping volley but Button was equal to it and pulled off a great block, the ball then dropped back to United who played in a low ball to find S-Latef but he stabbed the ball over from close range.
Town created a lovely chance after hitting United quickly on the break, Elder flicked the ball into the path of Robinson who broke place down the left, he continued his run towards the goal, nicked the ball back onto his right before hitting a shot which dipped just over the bar.
It was quite an open game in the last 10 minutes with both sides having chances to get on the score sheet. United brought out a couple of good saves from Button while at the other end Jake Robinson tested Esteve and also had a cross cum shot come back off the bar.
Full-time: 1-0
