It was a pretty even opening 10 minutes with both sides looking to take the early advantage. Macclesfield had a couple of good sights of goal but it was Town who had the best chance after Jon Taylor beat his marker, he continued his run in on goal but pulled his shot a little and it went wide of the target
Town were in front just before the 15 minute mark with a nice move, Kris Bright made a great run through and played it out to the trialist, he played the ball into the box to find the run of Will Richards, Tom France cleared the ball but Richards put a foot in to block and the ball looped up over Veiga to give Town the lead.
Town had been defending well and doing well to keep Macclesfield out. The visitors had a few good sites of the Town goal but Chris Neal was doing well, as were his defenders. Josh Evans had been having a testing time at left-back but when a Macc attack saw them burst into the box Evans showed great composure to slide in with an important tackle.
Town were continuing to look bright in the final third and were causing the visitors and number of problems. There was some neat football being played and some good link up, Tom Bradshaw played in Jon Taylor for s good chance and minute's later Taylor turned provider for Kris Bright who curled his shot just wide of the target.
The pattern of the game continued into the second half with both sides looking to get the ball down and play it when they got the chance. Chris Neal had been having a quiet game but when Shaun Brisley got in a downward header Neal was across quickly to palm the ball from danger. The minutes later he had to be at his best after Matthew Tipton hit an excellent looking shot from outside the box but Neal sprung across the box to tip the ball around the post.
Town got an excellent second goal from a corner, Jon Taylor curled over an excellent delivery and there was Will Richards rising well to put in a strong near post header which flew in giving the keeper no chance.
Full-time: 2-0
