Shrewsbury Town players continued their annual visits to children's wards of local hospitals with an appearance at the Rainbow Ward at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. There were around 15 young children ranging in age from just 2 weeks to 11 years of age on the ward with their parents. The players handed of gifts of full football kits for the older children and special Shrewsbury town baby-grows for the infants.
The players included Jermaine Grandison, Mark Wright, James Collins, Reuben Hazell, Lionel Ainsworth, Carl Reagan and Connor Goldson. Posing for photographs with some of the children Reuben remarked "As a father myself, it must be difficult for the parents at this Christmas time to have a son or daughter in hospital" all of the players were pleased to have brought some cheer into the lives of the families at this festive time. Striker James Collins was struck by the range of ages present. " Some of the tiny babies looked so small, it is such a shame that they have to be in hospital for Christmas, but at least their parents can stay with them".
More of the squad will be visiting Hope House Children's Hospice and the Alice Ward at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt hospital next week.
