Interview

Third year Adam has been with Town since he joined the Centre of Excellence as a 9-year old working with Mal Musgrove. He's been with the youth team for the last two years but only went full-time this season after finishing Sixth Form: "I'm from Telford and went to Thomas Telford School from the age of 11, I stayed there for 6th form, coming to Shrewsbury part time for the first two years of the YTS.

"I've been here a long time, I think I was about 9 when I started and that was the time Malcolm Musgrove was here. Chris Venables and myself started at the same time and we've been here ever since.

"It's definitely a good thing to be playing for Shrewsbury and I've seen a lot of changes over that time.

The move to full-time looks to have benefited the Telford based youngster and he's started to become a regular in Town's reserve side: "It's definitely a better standard when you play for the reserves and it's nice to be involved and be around the pro's, it gives you a taste for it. And it's more enjoyable playing the games."

With Adam moving to Walford this year we asked him what the best thing about the move was: "Probably just being around with the lads and having a good laugh.

"Being at Walford helps bring the lads together and you can see that on the pitch. Last year it was a little bit different when I was coming in part time but now I'm full time there is a big difference.

"Being at Walford helps bring everyone together and there is a lot of team spirit."

With this being Adam's last year on the scholarship the decision about his future will be made shortly, we asked him what his ambitions and hopes are: "My ambition is to get a pro contract and to do that I've got to keep trying to impress when I play for the reserves and the youth team and hopefully push as much as I can.

"I'd like to get involved with the first team if possible but to do that I've just got to keep impressing and see what happens. "My hope is just to get as high in football as I can and keep working as hard as I can."
