Match Preview | Oxford United

3 February 2023

Shrewsbury Town travel to the Kassam Stadium this Saturday to take on Oxford United in the Sky Bet League One. Kick-off is at 3pm.

Shrewsbury secured another three points last Saturday in an extraordinary game at Montgomery Waters Meadow. Although Jordan Garrick had put Forest Green Rovers 1-0 up in the first half, the game turned around completely in second half stoppage time. Rekeil Pyke equalised in the 94th minute before Ryan Bowman struck in the 98th minute to make it 2-1 and secure a fourth consecutive win for Salop.

Oxford United were in action on Wednesday night when they hosted Barnsley at the Kassam Stadium. Goals from Bobby Thomas and Nicky Cadden on either side of half-time put the visitors 2-0 up before Elliott Moore pulled a goal back for Oxford in the 71st minute. Barnsley held on for the win and Oxford now head into the fixture on the back of three consecutive defeats.

Shrewsbury and Oxford have met 53 times before, with Salop winning 18 of them, drawing 14 and losing 21. The match at Montgomery Waters Meadow ended in 1-1 draw in November last year.
