Welsh U21 call up for Town strikers

Shrewsbury Town strikers Tom Bradshaw and Ryan Doble have both been named in the Wales under-21 squad for the UEFA European Championship qualifier against Armenia at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground on Wednesday, August 15.

It's good news for the strike pair who were regulars in the under-21 squad last season.

Bradshaw has netted once in five appearances for the young Dragons while summer signing Doble has 10 caps and one goal from his Southampton days.

Manager Graham Turner congratulated the duo on their selection but said it was unfortunate that they will both now miss a planned Town friendly fixture against a Premier League club's development squad scheduled for the same week.

Graham said: "You've got to congratulate them as it's a big honour playing for your country. Both have played together for that side before.

"There's a new manager there this time time with Geraint Williams instead of Brian Flynn so it will be a new experience for them going with this Welsh set up.

"The game's at Wrexham and I'll be able to pop along and watch both of them play."

WALES UNDER-21 SQUAD selected to face Armenia: Christopher Maxwell (Fleetwood Town), Daniel Ward (Liverpool), Kieron Freeman (Nottingham Forest), Ashley Richards (Swansea City), Daniel Alfei (Swansea City), David Stephens (Hibernian), Troy Brown (Aldershot Town), Adam Henley (Blackburn Rovers), Lee Lucas (Swansea City), Jake Howells (Luton Town), Ryan Doble (Shrewsbury Town), Billy Bodin (Torquay United), Ashton Taylor (Tranmere Rovers), Jake Cassidy (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Eliot Richards (Bristol Rovers), Jonathan Williams (Crystal Palace), Tom Bradshaw (Shrewsbury Town), Jake Taylor (Reading).
